Obama ran against Bush, but now governs like him

WASHINGTON — He ran as the anti-Bush.

Silver-tongued, not tongue-tied. A team player on the world stage, not a lone cowboy. A man who'd put a stop to reckless Bush policies at home and abroad. In short, Barack Obama represented Change.
Well, that was then. Now, on one major policy after another, President Barack Obama seems to be morphing into George W. Bush.

On the nation's finances, the man who once ripped Bush as a failed leader for seeking to raise the nation's debt ceiling now wants to do it himself.
On terrorism, he criticized Bush for sending suspected terrorists to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, and denying them access to U.S. civilian courts. Now he says he'll do the same.
On taxes, he called the Bush-era tax cuts for the wealthy wrong, and lately began calling again to end them. But in December he signed a deal with Republicans to extend them for two years, and recently he called the entire tax cut package good for the country.

Obama Loves the Business Community

Surely Barack Obama must know how important it is to the financial system to bring to justice those executives that used derivatives and other means to bring down the system. It is one hope that we thought might bring change under the Obama administration, that is, the end of deregulation. Having read the article in CounterPunch by Mike Whitney, we can now understand what is at stake and why there will never be prosecutions of those in the financial system who used unethical means to feather their own nests. On Tuesday, Barack Obama made the case for easing regulations in an op-ed in the Wall Street Journal. The article, titled "Toward a 21st-Century Regulatory System", was accompanied by a caricature of a scissor-wielding businessman slashing-away at red tape, a symbol that is revered among anti-regulation zealots. In the opening paragraph, the president praises free market capitalism ("the greatest force for prosperity the world has ever known") and Wall Street ("vibrant entrepreneurialism is the key to our continued global leadership") while taking aim at the "burdensome" restrictions that prevent speculators from maximizing profits. Even by the administration's abysmal standards, the article is a new low, which is why the WSJ editors mockingly critiqued Obama's op-ed as "one of the greatest policy walkbacks in American history". Here's a clip from the text:

"Sometimes, those rules have gotten out of balance, placing unreasonable burdens on business—burdens that have stifled innovation and have had a chilling effect on growth and jobs......Over the past two years, the goal of my administration has been to strike the right balance. And today, I am signing an executive order that makes clear that this is the operating principle of our government.

This order requires that federal agencies ensure that regulations protect our safety, health and environment while promoting economic growth. And it orders a government-wide review of the rules already on the books to remove outdated regulations that stifle job creation and make our economy less competitive. It's a review that will help bring order to regulations that have become a patchwork of overlapping rules, the result of tinkering by administrations and legislators of both parties and the influence of special interests in Washington over decades."

The tone of the article strongly suggests that it wasn't deregulation that triggered the financial meltdown, but all those pesky rules that inhibit innovation and growth. This is pure revisionism and Obama knows it. But he also knows who he is talking to when he takes a spot on Murdoch's editorial page; rabid right-wingers who think business can do no wrong. That's why Obama skips the liberal blather altogether and reiterates themes that read like the daily printout of GOP bullet-points. Here's how the WSJ's economics editor David Wessel summed it up:

"Mr. Obama told agencies to scour the books for obsolete rules.....Within 120 days, each agency is to devise "a preliminary plan...to periodically review its existing significant regulations" to see which should be "modified, streamlined, expanded, or repealed."

So now the onus falls on the agencies to "prove" that businesses are not in compliance. That will make it harder to stop bad behavior or to penalize offenders. Obama's remedy will also extend compliance dates, offer more exemptions, and force regulators to make their judgments on stricter cost-benefit analysis. It's just one roadblock after another. The net result will be fewer rules, more pollution, a more dangerous working place, more financial fraud, and a general watering down existing regulations. No wonder the Journal's editors are so elated over Obama's transformation. He's abandoned any pretense of serving the public's interest.

The New Year Will Be Grim For Many

Recently, I had an argusation (that's a combination of a friendly argument and a conversation) with a very dear and close friend of mine. His point was that the economy is getting better (he says we are in a recovery) and many will feel the affects of this in a positive way.

My position wasjust the opposite. The real and published unemployment rate is still as high and housing prices are still falling. Not so says my friend. Where I am, he says, real estate values have leveled, there is an increase in spending and there seems to be a recovery.

Well, that may be so where you are (West Palm Beach, Florida) but it is not the case just south of you in the greater Ft. Lauderdale and Miami areas. It is certainly not the case up here in Tampa Bay where unemployment is well over 12% and real estate values in many areas have declined well over 50% with no leveling in sight.

However, my friend did concede that nationwide, real estate values would not level until the job market improves and unemployment decreases. Exactly said I, that is what I have been saying all along. We can't have any kind of real recovery until the housing market improves, foreclosures decrease substantially and the unemployment - and underemployment - situation decreases substantially.

We have, I fear, a second economic disaster looming in the "cloud" (yes, I am not sure what a "cloud" is either but it is used daily in the IT world as a place where stuff is stored...I think).

Yes, a second wave (like in a tsunami) of financial disturbances for the average person in this country and more good deals and profits for our large (too big to exist) corporations.

Of course, all of the conversation I had with my friend was only my opinion and who am I in terms of expertise on the subject (I am just one small victim of the Great Recession which in reality was and still is a Depression). As a famous political science comedian always says after his rant..."I could be wrong".

However, someone at the New York Times feels much the way I do and the New York Times itself feels it newsworthy to publish this opinion.

When people say that the recovery does not feel like a recovery, they are describing reality. The economy is growing, but for many Americans life is not getting better. Unemployment remains high. Home values are depressed. And state budgets are in deep trouble, presaging more layoffs, service cuts and tax increases.

The Times editorial echoes much of my conversation with my friend which also echoes much of my opinion - if not all of it.

One last word of advice to those of you who represent us in the House of Representatives and the Senate (notice that the House is the House of REPRESENTATIVES). Begin your new term by truly representing the people not your own agendas be they Democrat or Republican. Leave your personal agendas and partisan politics at the front steps of the building you work in 9you know, the one with the large dome on top). This is no time to commit yourselves to defeating the other party at all costs. All Costs - in this case - means all the people of this country, especially those in the middle and lower classes you commonly refer to as the 'MAJORITY".

Of course this is just my opinion again. I could be wrong.

This action speaks loudly and should speak loudly to Chief Justices in all 50 states. The banks and their lawyers have been and are still committing fraud which last I saw is against the law. Even the Bar Associations of every state seems to condone this fraud as they themselves – as the watchdog over lawyers – do nothing given all the evidence that has been made public.

What is causing this in New York? The fact that the chief judge in New York – Chief Judge Jonathan Lippman – told all attorneys that any fraud found in any of their foreclosure filings would be met with severe measures. The New York Post reports that
he is making lawyers sign affirmations promising they took “reasonable” steps to make sure the legal papers are true.

This affirmation has caused not only no new foreclosure actions being filed but existing cases are in a holding pattern. Lawyers in New York, I believe, know that the paperwork they have is shoddy at best and that there may be fraud existing in the files they receive from the banks. At the very least, in order to prevail, they would have to create fraudulent paperwork – ala David Stearns old paper creating firm Weforgem and More, LLC (not really the name of the company he created to forge docs but I just could not resist) New York lawyers – seems like all of them handling foreclosures for banks – are afraid to lose their license and they should be.

I believe that anyone is innocent until proven guilty- but in this case – the evidence is conclusive. It is out in the open for all to see and there are plenty of credible admissions to this fraud. What more do we need to begin prosecuting? I, for one, would give rob – signers immunity in exchange for their testimony. They, after all, were just doing what the boss was telling them to do so they could get their measly paycheck at the end of the week. The boss, on the other hand (all CEO’s), were giving out instructions for this fraud so they could continue to get their hundreds of millions in paychecks. Yes, I am making the assumption here that the CEO’s are or were aware of the fraud and therefore should be held accountable. Again, innocent until proven guilty but in this case if one goes back to investigate all the fraud that has taken place one would find, I believe, that the CEO’s were very much aware of the fraud and probably gave instructions themselves. You see, some of this fraud could only have been committed with instructions from very high levels. Just like the case with Bernie Madoff. If anyone still believes he acted alone then I would like to sell you the Skyline Bridge here in Tampa Bay. (It is a better value then buying the traditional Brooklyn bridge because of the weather) Any takers? I have an even better idea for the sale of this bridge – I will securitize it and each of you non believers in the extent of this fraud can buy a share of it. Now, any ~~suckers~~, I mean takers?

Yes, folks, I along with dozens of other bloggers have been trying to expose this fraud for months and in my case for years. Problem is, we have but somehow the law and those responsible for uholding the law – judges, prosecuters, Bar Associations, lawyers, Attorney General’s (Federal and State) don’t seem to care to uphold the law for some. A selective process which eventually will bring down our entire legal system and the democracy within what used to be a Republic will disappear. The “elite” few will rule and function outside of the law while the rest of us peasants will be overly subjected to these same laws losing our lives, our liberties and our ability for our pursuit of happiness.

WAKE UP AMERICA. Only “we” can bring justice back. Only our combined, unified voices can make our lawmakers and police enforce the law against everyone. No one is Too Big to Fail nor Too Big Not To Go To Jail.

Quantitative Easing. What does it mean?

Most people don't understand it. It is a fancy term for printing more money - $600 Billion more. I don't know about you but to me printing more money means what I have will be worth less and what I buy will cost more. This plan of total transfer of wealth excellerated under the Bush Administration is continuing under the"Change We Can Co9unt ON" Obama Administration. I guess the slogan is correct, "change we can count...". All we will have left is the change in our change jars that we will count when we wrap it up to go to the groceryl store.

HAMP is a SCAM

The flow of money from the people to the banks is ongoing. This entire real estate crash was orchestrated to move money and assets from the American People to the banks. Not only did the ~~taxpayers~~ our government give the banks and other private companies like GM and Chrysler money to aid and abet them in their journey to control us all through controlling our wealth, but the government participated and is still participating in this scam.

What has this country come to? How have we, the people, allowed this to happen. You will notice there is no major outcry, no major show of disgust. Only a handful of people feel safe enough - or are simply so fed up they don't care about their safety - to protest in public.

We have had and still have unjust wars, wars that have taken thousands of American lives and hurt and disabled hundreds of thousands, yet no public outcry or show of disgust. What has this country come to?

Many of us are old enough to remember the protests by the hundreds and hundreds of thousands against the war in Viet Nam - another unjust war - our government got us into under the guise of national security and for the sake of Democracy. A Democracy we have not seen or enjoyed in this country for quite some time.

The mortgage crisis was made by design. The foreclosure process is by design. The Mortgage Modification programs such as HAMP also by design but designed to fool you into thinking those we elect to office really and truly care about us. Folks, they don't. For our politicians it is all about the money as well. Their lifelong jobs and benefits. Their princely lifestyles. Their travel at our expense on lavish airplanes, staying at the priciest hotels under a shroud of security most Presidents of other countries would like to have.

We are witnessing the final stages of the creation of the "New World Order". Remember, the New World Order President George H.W. Bush talked about. The same one Meyer Rothschilld talked about creating when he said, "Let me control the money of a nation and I care not who makes its' laws". Yes, a plan laid down in the late 1700's coming to full fruition today.

To think all of this is just an economic bubble that occurred by itself, think again. All bubbles are man made. They are made by design with the sole purpose of amassing money by the billions. Bubbles are made to control an economy and most of its wealth by a handful of people whose patriotism and care for their fellow citizen stops at the edge of their bank accounts - most of which are off shore.

Stop and think. Banks all said they were broke or going broke. They needed the infusion of trillions of dollars to stay afloat and if they did not get the money our entire world economy would crash. WRONG! They didn't need the money. They didn't lose any money and they are still not losing any money. No one has ever asked the question, "where did all the money go that they made during the bubble?". They made loans, sold the loans to Wall Street who in turn sold those packaged loans to unwary investors the world over. Where did all that money go that they made? No one knows for sure but I believe they have it all off shore. All The banks have major operations the world over and the money that goes there never gets reported here.

I still have that same question; "Where's The Money?".

Homeowners Protest HAMP: 'It's Just A Scam And The Banks Are Getting Everything'

WASHINGTON -- Judy Stratton said she and her husband Harry have tried since January 2009 to modify the mortgage on their home in Stayton, Ore. after a drop-off in demand for Harry's floor maintenance services. In August, Stratton said, they received a rejection letter from their bank saying they did not qualify for help per the Obama administration's Home Affordable Modification Program.

They say the Recession is over. They say we are on the road to recovery. "They" - those wanna be trusted and believed government spokespersons and so called experts - hide the truth from us, always have and always will. The bottom line - we can't believe what our own government via our elected officials tell us.

For one, the Recession is not over. Just look around you and at your friends and neighbors.

Second, inflation is getting out of hand. Oh, I know, you can't count food and fuel - the two items people need to survive. (Another lie by our government). Food and fuel inflates daily. Food especially by double digits.

Third, unemployment is worse then "they" tell us it is. Almost every community feels the impact of the 'real' un/under employment figures. Florida for instance, has "reported" unemployment figures of over 14% in areas like Tampa. Real unemployment is probably closer to 28%.

Here is a story which aired yesterday, Oct. 20, 2010, on CBS 60 Minutes: It tells the truth and shows the reality. We are not on the road to recovery. Only the banks are healthy as they continue to steal from the rest of us.

Who Owns My Mortgage Note...Demand To KNow

This email came to me from SEIU - Service Employees International Union - a union, who for the most part, supports "the people". I say, "for the most part" because there are times when I do disagree with them but as far as unions go, this is one of the better ones.

It includes a link to a web site that allows you to easily modify a letter to your bank and allows you to email it with a simple click of a button.

It has a very comprehensive list of banks and a link to go to if your bank is not included. In addition, it provides a toll free number for each bank.

There are two problems I find with this web site - www.wheresthenote.com. The letter is addressed to "the bank" not the servicing company that actually is managing your account. However, in many cases, your servicing company is owned by the bank addressed to. You need to refer to your payment stubs or your payment book of coupons to see who you actually make your check payable to or if already in foreclsoure, who the named Plaintiff is.

The second problem I see here is in the body of the letter that you can and should modify.
The last paragraph of the letter reads:

To protect myself and my family, I need to know who owns my mortgage. Within thirty days, I would like to know the name, address, and phone number of the bank or investor that owns my mortgage. Furthermore, in light of the recent allegations of foreclosure fraud, I demand to see the original mortgage note proving ownership over my home loan. If you fail to produce a mortgage note proving that you have a right to collect my mortgage payments, I will be forced to consider all options available to me to ensure that my family and my home are protected.

The last, highlighted bold sentence is the one I don't agree with. This is why and I will bold my comment.

You are asking "the bank" - not necessarily your servicing company - to give you the name and address of the "true" owner of your note. If your "bank" is not the "true" owner then it will not have, should not have and cannot produce the original note. Second, if you are writing to your servicing company (that often have the name of the bank as part of their name) they never own your note and therefore should not have the original note in their possession.

Having possession of the note DOES NOT, I repeat, DOES NOT give them the right to collect your payments nor take any foreclosure action against you. You will have little defense if you stop making your payments to them or take any legal action against them for not providing a copy of the original.

If you want to insure that whoever you are writing to has the right to collect your payments you should ask them for a copy of their servicing agreement with the "true" owner of your note or at the very least that "portion" of the agreement that indicates their servicing rights. They will not disclosue to you their entire agreement which would include their fees, etc

The more email letters all the banks receive, the more they will begin to get the idea that we "do not trust" them and we will no longer allow them to operate with special exceptions to the law. As I always have said and maintain, "THE LAW IS THE LAW FOR EVERYONE".

I own the property at the address listed above, and your bank services my mortgage.

Over the last several weeks there have been many stories documenting the problem that banks are foreclosing on homes without proof that they own the loan. I have learned that in many cases, banks like yours do not even know who owns the loans you service. Employees at several leading banks have admitted to rubber stamping tens of thousands of foreclosures every month, without even checking to make sure that the bank had a legal right to proceed with foreclosure. In some cases, banks allegedly falsified mortgage documents to cover up their mistakes. There have been reports of two banks trying to foreclose on the same home, banks foreclosing on homeowners who were current on their payments, and even of a bank foreclosing on a home where the homeowner had never taken out a mortgage to begin with. This is not merely a "technical problem"--it is the difference between having a warm bed at night and being out on the street.

As a homeowner and a customer of your bank, I am horrified. I had always believed that it I played by the rules, I would be protected, but now I know that banks like yours think the rules don't apply to them.

To protect myself and my family, I need to know who owns my mortgage. Within thirty days, I would like to know the name, address, and phone number of the bank or investor that owns my mortgage. Furthermore, in light of the recent allegations of foreclosure fraud, I demand to see the original mortgage note proving ownership over my home loan. I would like to see copies of all endorsements and assignments of my mortgage note and where and when the assingment(s) _if any - were recorded. Bank Fraud Edition: Fraud Fraud and More Fraud

Image via WikipediaBank of America announces it will halt all foreclosures and foreclosure sales beginning Saturday, October 9, 2010, in all 50 states This is big. (See story in The Huffington Post)

Just the other day they announced that they were halting their actions just in the 23 states where they must go to court in order to complete a foreclosure. These states are referred to as judicial foreclosure states. The other states, referred to as non judicial foreclosure states do not require that the lenders or banks go to court to foreclose. They simply place a notice of sale on the door of the home indicating that the home will be sold at auction on a certain date.

What makes this new action by BofA so significant is that it lets everyone know that even in non judicial states the homeowner has a legal right to defend their foreclosure the same as if it were a judicial foreclosure state. I say again, THIS IS BIG!

We are entering a era of lawlessness in this country. Lawlessness not by the people but by our major banking institutions joined by a handful of other Too Big To Fail corporations such as GM and AIG. Let's take a look at the latest of events depicting how banks with the permission of law enforcement and government is able to shred our Constitution even more, disregard our property rights and our right - perhaps - to protect ourselves.

I previously compared our country to the old Soviet Union (U.S.S.R) where people had no privacy. Where people were subject to search and seizure in their homes and where the people had few if any rights when it came to the law and the politburo. Goldman still owns mortgage companies but their real problem will come when fraud investigations into the securitization process and Credit Default Swaps begin as a result. Ohio Attorney General Sues Ally Financial Over Alleged Foreclosure Fraud, First In A Possible Wave Of Lawsuits

WASHINGTON — Ohio's attorney general is suing Ally Financial Inc. and its GMAC Mortgage division, alleging the company violated state fraud laws in handling foreclosure cases.

The action could be the first in a wave of lawsuits by state regulators over what appear to be widespread problems in documents used by the nation's largest mortgage lenders.

Attorney General Richard Cordray said Wednesday the alleged fraud could involve hundreds of foreclosures in the state. The lawsuit claims the company's employees signed and filed false affidavits to mislead courts. Cordray called the alleged fraud the "tip of an iceberg of industrywide abuse of the foreclosure process."

Ponzi is turning over in his grave!

To think that the scheme - named for him - of defrauding people has reached a level which can never and will never be reached again.

We have all been hearing and reading about the latest and greatest in foreclosure fraud committed by GMAC (Now Ally Bank), JP Morgan Chase and Bank of America who have voluntarily suspended foreclosure actions in 23 states which require the use of the court system to accomplish a foreclosure (these states are referred to as Judicial Foreclosure States.

A short summary of what this is all about.

A law firm - ICE Legal - in Palm Beach County, Florida discovered in a deposition that an Affidavit attesting to personal knowledge of the mortgage account in foreclosure was fraudulent.

The importance of this Affidavit is that it is a requirement by Florida Statute in order to request a Summary Judgment to foreclosure on a property. It is apparently a requirement in in the other 22 Judicial Foreclosure States as well.

What the attorney from ICE Legal learned in the deposition (information given under oath) was that the person who signed the Affidavit attesting to having had personal knowledge of the account and case - in fact did not. Even more disturbing in his deposition was the admission that he and a team of others literally signed thousands of these Affidavits a month under the direction of the law firm representing GMAC. This admission prompted GMAC to immediately halt all foreclosures in Florida and the other 22 Judicial Foreclosure states.

Within days JP Morgan and Bank of America also admitted to the same fraudulent activity and also suspended all foreclosure action in those 23 states. Today, Wells Fargo also admitted to having done the same but has not as yet suspended forclosures. They are simply looking into the situation.

Make no mistake here folks, this type of activity is pure and simple fraud and by submitting flatulent documents as evidence in a court of law it then becomes fraud on the court as well.

The topic of fraudulent foreclosures by the banks has been my primary focus for the past 3 years when I first began writing about it as a Guest Writer in Flippingfrenzy.com, TheMortgageCornerFORUM and TheForeclosureDetonatorFORUM.

Few people believed me in the past when I said that the banks were committing fraud causing the mortgage meltdown which later turned into the worst financial crisis the world has ever seen - yes, worse then the Great Depression. Few believed me when I said three years ago that the banks are committing fraud and foreclosing illegally in many if not most foreclosures. Few believed me when I said that the banks were committing fraud on the courts providing forged, created or misrepresented documents. And few believed me when I said that the parties acting as Plaintiffs in many of our foreclosures do not have the legal right to do so (this is called Standing) as they do not own the mortgage notes they are foreclosing on.

Of course, over the past three years many of my stories have been substantiated by people like Federal Judge Boyco of Ohio who dismissed 17 foreclosure cases against one bank in one day saying that they lacked Standing - they could not prove ownership of the notes therefore they could not foreclose. Another such person was New York Superior Court Judge Arthur Shack who also denied banks their foreclosures for the same reason of not having Standing.

Other judges in Ohio, New York, Florida and a few other states have as well ruled the same way. In addition, some of these judges found evidence of falsified documents and even sanctioned the law firm for attempting to commit fraud on the court.

What is important here is that this case of Affidavit fraud will open the door to all the other frauds committed by our banks - expecially our Too Big To Fail banks like Goldman Sachs. Goldman is very much involved in much of the early frauds having to do with securitizations I have written about here in the past. .They also own mortgage lending companies that have been and probably still are involved in the most recent evidence of fraud.

Many of the frauds committed by GS and their Wall Street cronies have been written about, talked about and exposed yet little if anything has ever been done. You all know I have been calling for justice on this issue. So far they all have not only been deemed Too Big To Fail (GMAC was included in that if you remember and we own most of that company today) but have seemingly been granted some type of immunity against any prosecution for obvious illegal and fraudulent activities. They seem to have been above the law as well.

Well, this may all finally be coming to an end and justice may yet be served even though I believe it will still be a slow painful process.

Bank Fraud FINALLY In the Limelight

I have not been the first to report on this as I have been busy reading all of the other reports on this topic. Pandora's Box has finally been opened.
This "robo- signer" fraud is only the tip of the iceberg that ICE Legal (no pun intended) in Royal Palm Beach, Florida (Palm Beach County) discovered during "discovery". His deposition caused GMAC (ALLY Bank) to halt foreclosures in 23 states. This action was then followed by JP Morgan Chase and as of this past

Friday, Bank of America. I am sure we will see many other of our major banks follow suit as this practice of submitting fraudulent documents to the courts is wide-spread.

While this news is finally showing how banks are committing fraud in our courts by submitting fraudulent Affidavits attesting to personal knowledge of each foreclosure case and mortgage account, I believe, is only the beginning.

Back Door To Fraud

The banks and their attorneys - commonly called foreclosure mills - have been committing fraud on the court since the beginning of the once called "mortgage meltdown" and the current foreclosure crisis. The fraud was committed when many loans were originated.

Mortgage brokers - who were accused by the big box banks of creating all of these "bad loans" - submitted deals to the banks. It was the job of these banks/lenders to "underwrite" these loans then decide if they would approve them or not. In many cases they approved loans knowing that there were fraudulent documents in the file or knowing that the ability to repay did not exist. In other words, the banks
approved and funded loans they knew were foreclosures in the making. They blamed the brokers when it was their job to make the decision to approve and fund or to deny.

FYI, Fannie and Freddie very much did the same. You see, they created a computer underwriting engine that would automatically underwrite a loan input by any loan originator including the mortgage brokers. They (F & F) frequently tweaked the system so that it would approve more loans. They sent teams of people out into the field to teach originators how to use their automated underwriting (AU) systems, called Desktop Underwriter (DU) for Fannie Mae and Loan Prospector (LP) for Freddie Mac's version. In these "field" workshops they taught us how to manipulate the system to get approvals. They taught us to keep changing the information such as income and assets until the system gave us an approval often not requiring any verification. Once the system gave us the desired approval we were then told to hit the submit button which would give the official approval.

Goldman Sachs was given a mere pittance of a fine for just one small illegal activity yet the bigger crimes still go unnoticed and unpunished. I truly believe this is a new beginning for the people and perhaps even a new beginning for this blog. These banksters must learn that they cannot rule us, take from us our Constitutional right of Due Process and trample over us at will for their own personal profit and gain.

For the first time in three years I feel somewhat encouraged.

Admission of Guilt With No Consequences...We Need Justice For All

Editor's Note: While this is not directly related to Goldman Sachs, it is important in that it provides further evidence that banks can get away with criminal activities and have been. We have seen over the course of this blog that GS has committed offenses that for most others would have meant prosecution. Now we see that fraud committed by banks is an ongoing criminal activity that perhaps should be prosecuted under our RICO laws. Our courts are not only being abused by our TBTF banks but they have become willing accomplices against the very people they are empowered to protect.

The story of bank fraud, committed by the banks themselves is an ongoing story that has been on the side lines since the very beginning of the "meltdown" in 2007. Banks lied then to protect themselves, they continued to cheat and lie to protect themselves, they lied (along with our highest elected officials) to get our money so that they could steal from us even more.

This is a story of a financial system gone bad. It is a story of a government taken over by a financial system gone bad and it is a story of a once free people in a nation whose Constitution has gone bad. Everything we once had and stood for has been destroyed by our banks.

This site will continue to expand on these abuses.

Maybe my prayers are being somewhat answered. That legal guru in the sky must have been reading my posts and rained some bad mojo down on a couple of offending lenders.
We have read in days past of GMAC's voluntary suspension of foreclosures in 23 states and had heard that JPMorgan was contemplating suspensions of foreclosures as well. Today we learn that JPMorgan is in fact suspending over 56,000 foreclosures pending reviews of documentation - specifically Affidavits - provided to the courts, many of which may be fraudulent.
In GMAC's case, there is definitely admission of guilt under oath by two offenders who did in fact lie and commit fraud when they signed the Affidavits attesting to personal knowledge of the accounts in question.

But it still mystifies me that knowing fraud on the court has been committed, there seems to be no consequence to these illegal actions. As one of our readers, Grady, wrote in a recent comment,

So now we have two major lenders admitting that their employees and the fraudsters that represent them, have quite possibly and probably, (actually have as we all know) committed fraud on the Court and perjured themselves. (emphasis added)

Where are the criminal prosecutions? Where are the dismissals with prejudice? Where are the sanctions? (emphasis added) LR Note: I agree with all of these questions. If it were you or I who committed these frauds, we would have been arrested and prosecuted immediately. Again, there is a separate set of laws for those we call Too Big To Fail.

We all know that they will just withdraw the fraudulent documents and refile new ones and it will all blow over, business as usual in the kangaroo courts.

Grady is right, it will be business as usual as they will just withdraw any fraud documents and refile new ones. It is like robbing a bank then returning the money in exchange for not being prosecuted. More legal precedence being set?

However, there is some sunlight here as well. The recognition from chief judge of the Sixth Judicial Circuit in Florida - which includes Clearwater and St. Petersburg - that there are legal issue problems here and despite the Florida legislature's push on "Rocket Docket" efforts to clear the dockets of foreclosures, that a slow down and more careful examination of each case must be made.

According to the New York Times report today, JP Morgan Suspending Foreclosures,

Judge McGrady predicted that the foreclosure process in Florida, which the Legislature has been trying to speed up, would have to slow down.

“Everyone is going to have to look at these cases more closely,” said Judge McGrady, whose circuit includes St. Petersburg.

Says Judge J. Thomas McGrady,

“I don’t want to say that every one of these cases is wrong and a fraud on the court, but it is a big concern for us,”

"Fraud on the court" he says, the first time I have seen that term used outside a very few specific cases. The fact that he says "it is a big concern for us" tells me that the fraud on the courts is widespread and they (judges) can no longer just look the other way as they have been doing.
It will be interesting to see how judges in the 6th Circuit handle each case now. It will be especially interesting to see how the newly rehired, retired judges - whose mandate it is to clear the dockets of foreclosures - will rule. It will be difficult for any layperson to evaluate since once open and public hearings are often closed to the public (another injustice and violation of public rights).

It remains to be seen how this new evidence is handled in Judicial foreclosure states around the country. This is not an isolated problem involving just two lenders. It is widespread throughout the servicing companies and foreclosure mills (attorneys representing lenders) who initiate and handle these foreclosures. Fraudulent documents, forged documents, back dated documents or many times no documents such as Assignments or Endorsements proving transfer of ownership to the entity taking the action.

We have admission and plenty of evidence of fraud on the courts from around the country. Remember, Judge Boyco, the Federal Judge in Ohio who dismissed 17 foreclosure cases in one day against one lender back in 2007 for not having the proper paperwork proving the standing of the plaintiffs to take the action? There was also Judge Shack, the Superior Court Judge from New York who dismissed cases for improper paperwork and for failure to prove standing. This was back in 2008. There are other judges who have taken the same actions of upholding the laws against the banks as well. Now it is time for all judges around the country in all courts hearing foreclosure cases to uphold the law as written and to punish those who would openly abuse the laws.

As I asked in yesterday's post - Let's Ramp Up The Fight Against Illegal Foreclosures and Fraud By Banks - where is everyone who has the authority to take action against what is and has been obvious illegal activity from lenders, servicers and attorneys? Should not the Bar Association take action against any and all lawyers who have been complicit in these frauds? Should not the Attorneys General of at least all judicial states take legal action and bring charges against the lenders/banks or servicers as well as their attorneys? After all, these practices are illegal and the law is the law for everyone regardless their economic standing.

Let's see how all of this plays out. It is a beginning. It opens the door even further to the illegal practices of banks and their attorneys which is seemingly condoned by our government and our courts. How much longer will this be tolerated by us?

While our government is trying to convince us that the Recession is over (?!) bank fraud is still gong on. Remember, it was bank fraud that caused this crisis and the Greatest Recession since the Great Depression. It took 10 years to recover from the Great Depression and our government, including our President in his Town Hall meeting yesterday, is trying to tell us that it took just a little over a year to end this Great Recession. They claim it ended in June, 2009.

To this I say "poppycock" (sorry Prince Poppycock of AGT fame). A million more people have gone into the poverty ranks since last year. The number of us living in poverty is over 43 million. RECESSION NOT OVER FOR THOSE 43 MILLION.

Foreclosures still in the tens of thousands. Last month over 95,000 homes foreclosured on. RECESSION NOT OVER FOR THESE PEOPLE.

Unemployment official figures still over 9% with actual figures including unemployed off the unemployement rolls and the under employed totaling over 18%. RECESSION NOT OVER FOR THESE PEOPLE.

There are many more facts and stats to support the fact that the Recession is not over. Similarly, there are many more facts and stats that the banks have been and are still committing FRAUD. Ally Bank is just one of them. They are all doing the same.

Law firms representing these banks and their service subsidiaries (non banks) are also committing fraud with plenty of evidence to support that, yet their frauds continue and the courts allow them.

The banks rule, the people are servants to them. Our government is a sham controlled by the banks. Wake Up America.

In a surprising move, Ally Bank says its mortgage division, GMAC Mortgage, "Mishandled Affidavits on Foreclosures" and as a result have halted proceedings in 23 states.

A GMAC employee testified in a deposition that he and a number of others in his department signed Affidavits attesting to the accuracy of the loan information as well as swearing that they had first hand knowledge of the facts. The employee said they had signed as many as 10,000 of these a month.

Falsley signed Affidavits have recently become another defense in the fight against foreclosures. It comes on the heals of other "illegal" actions by the so called banks and their foreclosure mill attorneys such as forged documents, fabricated documents such as assignments and more in an attempt to illegally prove that the Plaintiff's have proper standing to file these actions as they do actually own these mortgages. FRAUD, FRAUD and MORE FRAUD, that the courts have been allowing all over this country and some - like in Florida - are now encouraging by hiring (another illegal action, I maintain) retired judges who will handle nothing but foreclosure cases under the mandate of 'CLEARING" THE DOCKETS.

The courts have been hijacked by the banks as they have hijacked our entire financial system and country. The banks own us, own the government and now own the courts. They can do what ever they want with absolutely no consequence.

WE MUST CONTINUE TO STAND UP AGAINST THEM (THE BANKS), STAND UP FOR OUR RIGHTS IN COURT (APPEAL EACH CASE), GET THE LEGAL PROFESSION TO STAND UP FOR JUSTICE FOR ALL (NOT JUST THE BANKS) AND BRING BACK DUE PROCESS OF LAW WHICH EACH AND EVERYONE OF US HAS BEEN GUARANTEED BY THE CONSTITUTION.

GMAC Halts Foreclosures in 23 States for Review

GMAC Mortgage, one of the country’s largest and most troubled home lenders, said on Monday that it was imposing a moratorium on many of its foreclosures as it tried to ensure they were done correctly.

The lender, which specialized in subprime loans during the boom, when it was owned by General Motors, declined in an e-mail to secify how many loans would be affected or the “potential issue” it had identified with them.

GMAC said the suspension might be a few weeks or might last until the end of the year.
States where the moratorium is being carried out include New York, Connecticut, New Jersey, Illinois, Florida and 18 others, mostly on the East Coast and in the Midwest. All of the affected states are so-called judicial foreclosure states, where courts control the interactions of defaulting homeowners and their lenders.

Since the real estate collapse began, lawyers for homeowners have sparred with lenders in those states. The lawyers say that in many cases, the lenders are not in possession of the original promissory note, which is necessary for a foreclosure.

GMAC, which has been the recipient of billions of dollars of government aid, declined to provide any details or answer questions, but its actions suggest that it is concerned about potential liability in evicting families and selling houses to which it does not have clear title.

The lender said it was also reviewing completed foreclosures where the same unnamed procedure might have been used.

Matthew Weidner, a real estate lawyer in St. Petersburg, Fla., said he interpreted the lender’s actions as saying, “We have real liability here.”

Mr. Weidner said he recently received notices from the opposing counsel in two GMAC foreclosure cases that it was withdrawing an affidavit. In both cases, the document was signed by a GMAC executive who said in a deposition last year that he had routinely signed thousands of affidavits without verifying the mortgage holder.

“The Florida rules of civil procedure are explicit,” Mr. Weidner said. “If you enter an affidavit, it must be based on personal knowledge.”

The law firm seeking to withdraw the affidavits is Florida Default Law Group, which is based in Tampa. Ronald R. Wolfe, a vice president at the firm, did not return calls. The firm is under investigation by the State of Florida, according to the attorney general’s Web site.

Real estate agents who work with GMAC to sell foreclosed properties were told to halt their activities late last week. The moratorium was first reported by Bloomberg News on Monday. Bloomberg said it had obtained a company memorandum dated Friday in which GMAC Mortgage instructed brokers to immediately stop evictions, cash-for-key transactions and sales.
Nerissa Spannos, a Fort Lauderdale agent, said GMAC represents about half of her business — 15 houses at the moment in various stages of foreclosure.

“It’s all coming to a halt,” she said. “I have so many nice listings and now I can’t sell them.”
The lender’s action, she said, was unprecedented in her experience. “Every once in a while you get a message saying, ‘Take this house off the market. We have to re-foreclose.’ But this is so much bigger,” she said.

A reader left this comment on the previous post, "The Fed Corner". It makes sense to me. Serving in Congress SHOULD NOT BE A CAREER. It was never meant to be. People served because they wanted to "serve" their country just as our military does. Our enlisted men and women serve, not for the money but for the honor of serving their nation. If anyone should get the pay and perks that Congressmen and women do it should be our enlisted men and women who volunteer to be ORDERED into battle and put their lives on the line.

But our ruling class sees things different and with their financiers in big business continue to aid the destruction o four country.

Here is the commment I felt worthy of posting: It was left by an anonymous reader.

I am sending this to virtually everybody on my e-mail list and that includes conservatives, liberals, and everybody in between. Even though we disagree on a number of issues, I count all of you as friends.. My friend and neighbor wants to promote a "Congressional Reform Act of 2010". It would contain eight provisions, all of which would probably be strongly endorsed by those who drafted the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.

I know many of you will say, "this is impossible". Let me remind you,
Congress has the lowest approval of any entity in Government, now is
the time when Americans will join together to reform Congress — the
entity that represents us.

We need to get a Senator to introduce this bill in the US Senate and a
Representative to introduce a similar bill in the US House. These
people will become American heroes.

Dylan Ratigan on MSNBC yesterday said "we are in an economic revolution" and I think he hit the nail on the head. We, the people, the grass roots, are fighting for our existence.

There are those that would have us all shoeless and homeless and are working towards that goal. Ratigan talked about the six major industries that rule this government and I believe the leader of them all is the financial industry headed up by none other then The Federal Reserve.

We are living in dangerous times. While terrorism is a very real threat, I believe that the financial terrorism coming from inside our very own country - by our very own people - will casue the destruction of this nation as we all have known it. In fact, this country today looks nothing like it did a decade ago. No more prosperity, no more opportunity - no more ot the "good" life we all came to expect if we worked hard and saved.

At the root of all this evil doing is The Federal Reserve, a privately held - secretly owned and operated in a very secretive manner by a handful of men/women whose names and origins we know not.

Yes, the people are beginning to revolt. The Tea Party'ers are showing this revolt as they convince people to vote against "the establishment". But beware, The Tea Party may not be what you think it is. They are fractured and being hijacked. Some of it now is good and some, I believe is scary. They may well become another faction we must fight in this economic revolution.

However, the fight must start with the ending of The Federal Reserve and their total power over this nation. Central Banking is a cartell worldwide and we must rid ourselves of the one existing here. They are no better - maybe even worse then the drug cartels we have been fighting for decades. The drug cartels, however, do add money to our economy - illegal as it may be. But The Fed strips our economy of money - illegal as that may be.

The real story is about the total disregard for Due Process of the Law, a basic Constitutional right we used to all enjoy here in the United States. These types of actions along with the actions taken under the guise of the Patriot Act bring us ever closer to that once hated, demonic system of the old USSR. In fact, our civil, constitutional and basic rights once enjoyed here can earn us the new name of the United States of the Socialist Republic (USSR).

Due process is our RIGHT not privilege. If this is allowed to happen in our civil courts for foreclosures then that sets precedence for all other actions in all other courts of this land. The Shocking Truth About America...A Third World Country

The top 10 percent of Americans now earn half of our national income, while the bottom 90% collectively own less than 2 percent of the nation's wealth. There is more income inequality in America than at any time since 1928, when this statistic was first kept.

61 percent of Americans "always or usually" live paycheck to paycheck, which is up from 49% in 2008 and 43 percent in 2007.

Approximately 21 percent of all children in the United States are living below the poverty line, which is the highest rate in 20 years.

Only the top 5 percent of U.S. households have earned enough additional income since 1975 to match the rise in housing costs.

83 percent of all U.S. stocks are in the hands of just the top 1% of Americans. And the top 1 percent of U.S. households own nearly twice as much of America's corporate wealth as they did just 15 years ago.

In my previous post, I referred to our country as a two class society, "the haves" and "the have nots". Arianna Huffington in her new book - Third World America - makes a valid statement to support this as reported by Mr. Hindery, who also agrees with her assessment.

Ms. Huffington has precisely described the current sad state of the middle class, with especially sharp perspective on what she calls the economic "nightmare on Main Street." And she offers particular insight into "America the dilapidated", her short-hand way of expressing her distress at the sorry state of the nation's infrastructure, which will require a staggering $3 trillion or so of capital expenditures to fix and upgrade.(emphasis added by BO666)

Yes, when she calls this an "economic nightmare on Main Street" she hits the nail squarely on the head. For the past 3 years I have been calling this an "economic disaster" which seems to flourish with each failed attempt to correct it. The question then remains, are "they" really trying to correct it or further the benefits and holdings of the top 1% who, as stated above own:

83 percent of all U.S. stocks are in the hands of just the top 1% of Americans. And the top 1 percent of U.S. households own nearly twice as much of America's corporate wealth as they did just 15 years ago.

Even more shocking is the fact - again stated above - that 90% of Americans collectively own only 2% of the nations wealth. What's wrong with this picture?

We, the collective 90% of Americans have been robbed, stripped of any wealth we once possessed and are kept in distress never again to rise as the vibrant middle class we once were.

Does this remind anyone of any other regimes in other countries through out our most recent history? Does this sound like the old Soviet Union? Yes, in fact a visiting professor back in 1964 (a sitting U.S. Senator at the time) lectured our class on how close our country (then) was to the Soviet Union in terms of repression of people economically. That was shocking and alarming to me then but wait, look at us now.

Unfortunately, many of our younger generations do not remember the old Soviet Union and the political and economic repression they created in much of Europe. In fact, today's Freshman College class (class of 2014) don't know anything of the Soviet Union. It did not exist in their lifetime. They know only that the Russians and Americans share space on the International Space station, work cooperatively on the space effort and see many wealthy Russians here in the U.S. as well as in Russia.

These same kids never new of East and West German, the wall dividing East and West Berlin and how different the economic lifestyles of the split nation were.

But one thing for sure. These same Freshmen will remember how their parents lives were thrown into turmoil. How many of their homes were foreclosed on. They will remember the stress and misery that existed in their once happy homes when one or both parents lost their jobs and struggled just to survive and feed their family. They will remember their once middle class lives deteriorated into seeking social services, receiving food stams, waiting in line at food banks and no longer enjoying the many things they once took for granted.

They will certainly remember the difficulties in paying for their college educations as student loans are limited and parents savings wiped out. Some will make it and for those who try and can't, well, they may emerge as our best spokespersons and politicans as well as corporate executives. .

The light at the end of the tunnel is that this current generation of politicians and corporate thieves will one day be replaced by these youngsters as they struggle to get through college and graduate. These kids are our future and our last hope as our current group of crimeoliticians continue to ravage and destroy our country.

Arianna Huffington is right This is a Third World Country and few have the guts to announce it publicly as she is doing through her book and as Leo Hindery, Jr. is doing through his article.

We must rid ourselves of the same old revolving door in Washington. We must remove the likes of people like Greenspan, Bernanke, Geithner, Paulson, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Bush and yes, even Obama who promised change and that is what we are getting "pocket change".

Ben Bernanke and Barack Obama Don't Get It...Cheap Money Works For The Classes Not For The Masses

When Robert Reich speaks someone in the administration should listen. Fjor those of you who don't know Reich, he was former Secretary of Labor and is currently a Professor at Berkeley University.

He gets what those in charge of "working" our economy don't. Cheaper money will not improve our economy. I believe it will not stop the recession - which many are saying has stopped.

Reich very logically explains why Why Cheaper Money Won't Mean More Jobs, which is the title of his article.

The sad reality is that cheaper money won't work. Individuals aren't borrowing because they're still under a huge debt load. And as their homes drop in value and their jobs and wages continue to disappear, they're not in a position to borrow. Small businesses aren't borrowing because they have no reason to expand. Retail business is down, construction is down, even manufacturing suppliers are losing ground.

No cheaper money won't work. We have seen the affects of cheap money ever since the announcement of the economic crisis in 2008 - which I say really began in 2007. Cheap money benefited only our Too Big Too Fail Corporations and are now benefiting any LARGE corporation. None of it has yet benefited the average person, the unemployed, the under employed or the millions of suffering Americans all having to look to social programs just to survive. But maybe that's what it is all about - social programs for a socialist society. A two class system - the haves and the have nots.

You must begin to wonder what all of this is all about. After all, Bernanke is not a stupid person. In fact, he is a very intelligent and smart person. He understands what will work and what won't. At the same time, Barack Obama is not a stupid person either - he understands. What they understand is what we all out here in Recession America understand - helping big business does not help the public. Is this the real plan?

But this big-business borrowing won't create new jobs. To the contrary, large corporations have been investing their cash to pare back their payrolls. They've been buying new factories and facilities abroad (China, Brazil, India), and new labor-replacing software at home.
If Bernanke and company make it even cheaper to borrow, they'll be unleashing a third corporate strategy for creating more profits but fewer jobs -- mergers and acquisitions.

Americans Go Hungry While Once Poor Now Rich Ex Presidents Spend Lavishly

Paul Craig Roberts raises some very good questions and points out some very good and shocking statistics about this once great land of ours.

What is frightening are the stats on how many Americans go to bed hungry each day. What is more frightening is the story of just one food pantry in Ohio that does not have enough food to give out to over 3,000 recipients each day. One story of just one food pantry but I am sure that this same story is repeated in many cities and food pantries around the country.

While there has always been an "upper" class there has also been a very stable middle class. It has always been the middle class that has supported such things as food pantries and other charitable programs. The middle class has been annihilated here in this country, their wealth transferred to a new and much larger cadre of upper class citizens. These upper classes do contribute some but not as much as the once great middle class did. Yes, the upper class all have their favorite charities but when it comes time to pass the hat at the office, the hat receives little in the way of donations because the office is bare, the middle class workers are not there and the upper class managers who have raked in all that dough all claim they gave elsewhere.

This country's success was its middle class and its' failure now is due to the elimination of the middle class. I hope all those attending Princess Chelsea's wedding gave some thought to all the starving people and especially KIDS in this country while they feased on their lavish meals sitting in an air conditioned tent which alone was estimated to have cost $600,000.

I wish Chelsea all the best as well as her new husband, "what's his name". I hope their marriage is long and fruitfull but I also hope that they do not forget what the rest of the country is suffering.

August 03, 2010 "Information Clearing House" -- It is not unusual for members of the diminishing upper middle class to drop $20,000 or $30,000 on a big wedding. But for celebrities this large sum wouldn’t cover the wedding dress or the flowers.

When country music star Keith Urban married actress Nicole Kidman in 2006, their wedding cost $250,000. This large sum hardly counts as a celebrity wedding. When mega-millionaire real estate mogul Donald Trump married model Melania Knauss, the wedding bill was $1,000,000.

The marriages of Madonna and film director Guy Ritchie, Tiger Woods and Elin Nordegren, and Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones pushed up the cost of celebrity marriages to $1.5 million.

Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes upped the ante to $2,000,000.

Now comes the politicians’s daughter as celebrity. According to news reports, Chelsea Clinton’s wedding to investment banker Mark Mezvinsky on July 31 is costing papa Bill $3,000,000. According to the London Daily Mail, the total price tag will be about $5,000,000. The additional $2,000,000 apparently is being laid off on US Taxpayers as Secret Service costs for protecting former president Clinton and foreign heads of state, such as the presidents of France and Italy and former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, who are among the 500 invited guests along with Barbara Streisand, Steven Spielberg, Oprah Winfrey, Ted Turner, and Clinton friend and donor Denise Rich, wife of the Clinton-pardoned felon.

Before we attend to the poor political judgment of such an extravagant affair during times of economic distress, let us wonder aloud where a poor boy who became governor of Arkansas and president of the United States got such a fortune that he can blow $3,000,000 on a wedding.

The American people did not take up a collection to reward him for his service to them.
Where did the money come from? Who was he really serving during his eight years in office?

How did Tony Blair and his wife, Cherrie, end up with an annual income of ten million pounds (approximately $15 million dollars) as soon as he left office? Who was Blair really serving?

These are not polite questions, and they are infrequently asked.

While Chelsea’s wedding guests eat a $11,000 wedding cake and admire $250,000 floral displays, Lisa Roberts in Ohio is struggling to raise contributions for her food pantry in order to feed 3,000 local people, whose financial independence was destroyed by investment bankers, job offshoring, and unaffordable wars. The Americans dependent on Lisa Roberts’ food pantry are living out of vans and cars. Those with a house roof still over their heads are packed in as many as 14 per household according to the Chillicothe Gazette in Ohio.

The post contained MSNBC's Dateline video clips of a program called America Now: Friends and Neighbors, a five part series depicting the hunger in the heartland of America. A picture and story you will not see or hear from most media nor from our Administration. From the MSNBC website, a pop up told us that a Duke University report says that by the end of the year 22% of our nation's children will go hungry.

AMERICA, THE LAND OF OPPORTUNITY! BUT FOR WHOM?

This is a side of our nation that is not very well known and I believe is kept in the closet. THIS SHOULD BE HEADLINE NEWS EVERY DAY AT 6 & 11. It should be daily headlines each and every day in each and every news media. With TRILLIONS made by those on Wall Street, trillions of taxpayer dollars spent to "bail them out", trillions being spent on wars and other programs, NONE OF IT GETS TO THE PEOPLE.

This is shameful. We may have an all time high deficit but still there is money available for what ever those in government and in corporate America want. Should not the first order of business be "LET THERE BE NO HUNGRY AMERICANS"?

Reform Legislation Does Little to Address Systemic Faults in Banking

Congress passed the final version of financial reform legislation this past Friday, July 15, and President Barack Obama will sign the bill into law within days. The effect of the legislation on the industry will be relatively modest, as most agree that the new body of law will do relatively little to reduce systemic risk in our banking industry or cut banking industry profits. Ironically, on the same day, Goldman Sachs, admitting that it made "mistakes," agreed to pay $550 million in a settlement with the SEC over alleged charges that it sold mortgage securities it knew would fail. Are we now to believe that our financial system will never again cause a global meltdown as it did before?

Buckle your seatbelts. The ride will not be any less bumpy because nothing was done to eliminate the present incentive structures that encouraged bad behavior in the first place. The current world of difficult credit, excessive layers of banking transaction fees, and mortgage-backed securities are the ultimate result of years of misplaced incentives and unbridled greed. The general malaise is not specific to just a few banks. The problems developed over the past thirty years, are systemic and run through the entire banking system.

Back in the 80’s, our traditional banking system was struggling with competition on all fronts from insurance, telecom and investment banking companies. The best minds in the nation deduced a major strategic flaw in how banks funded their ongoing operations. Banks take deposits, and then loan the money to businesses and individuals. The practice in those days was to cover the majority of banking costs with margins added to their loans. A better approach would be to create numerous streams of new transaction fees. These would take the pressure off loans and allow margins to be competitive.

All banks were quick to adopt the new revenue strategy. It spread through every department of the bank from credit cards to foreign exchange trading. In order to encourage the new practice, bonuses were also tied to transaction fees collected, a critical mistake. Incentives work. The resulting behavior, however, may not be what was intended. Up to that point, bonuses in banks tended to be discretionary and moderate when compared to other industries. The allure of large bonus payouts catapulted banking to new levels of performance.

Banks had always coveted the exorbitant fees collected by their “cousins” in the investment banking industry, but the Glass-Steagall Act blocked access to this lucrative capital raising business. The Act, passed during the Great Depression, was created to prevent both styles of banking from destroying one another. Merchant banks, as they were called at the time, helped companies raise capital, but took no deposits. Traditional banks took deposits and made loans. In 1999, a Republican Congress removed the prohibitions of the Act altogether.

Greater competition ensued, at first believed to be a good thing. However, investment banks were pressured to invent and sell more complex securitization schemes to generate entirely new revenue streams. Banks became mortgage paper generators, charging high mortgage origination fees and then assigning the paper, much without income verification, to investment pools. Investment banks then marketed shares in the pools to pension funds and governments as “AAA” investment grade securities. Everyone made large bonuses. Everyone was happy, until the real estate “bubble” burst, and “toxic assets” became a new term in daily news headlines.

The debacle that followed is well documented. Many believe Glass-Steagall should have been re-instated, but members of Congress thought otherwise. The new reform bill does place new limits on specific types of revenue, but basically, it is business as usual. These banking trends took years to reach their “tipping point” and will take many more years to reverse. Traditional banks were intended to take risks and make loans, not generate fee income alone. Banks need to be Banks again.

Politics - like Wall Street - is doing business as usual.

For over ten years now, our country has been faced with one crisis after another. From Desert Storm to Fraud on Wall Street. What is interesting is that our political system acted quickly each time - in the name of democracy and freedom for Americans - to ram through decisions that have cost us precious lives and dollars.that have devastated many more lives.. In other words, political ambitions and actions seem to far outweigh the will of the people and the good of the people.

Each action seems to take away a little more freedom and a lot more wealth from the very people it is meant to protect and serve. Politicians are meant to represent us not rule over us and most certainly not conspire against us.

Politics and politicians were a large part of creating the economic crisis we are experiencing today. It was during Bill Clinton's administration that government urged banks and Wall Street to take action to allow more home ownership which in turn would expand the economy. They did, the economy began to grow and the flood gates were open.

As more political pressure was put on banks to lend more, new and creative mortgage programs began to be developed which - as we know today - created the insatiable greed that overtook Wall Street. I refer you back to a statement made by then President George W. Bush. (You can view the video and article I authored on July 24, 2008, titled The Truth About Wall Street)

“There’s no question about it,” President Bush said. “Wall Street got drunk (that’s one of the reasons I asked you to turn off the TV cameras) it got drunk and now it’s got a hangover,” Bush said last Friday, according to a video obtained by Houston’s ABC network affiliate, KTRK. “The question is how long will it [sic: take to] sober up?”

Yes, Wall Street did get drunk and the hangover cost millions of Americans their homes, jobs, savings and retirement. But the real question was then and still is today, where are the regulators? And if the President knew they were drunk with greed then why didn't he launch investigations then? The market had already crashed, the crisis was in a full blown recession and evidence of wrong doing was every where. You do have to wonder even if you are not into conspiracy theories.

There is no question in my mind that political intervention prevented any type of regulatory control or investigation. How else can a President say our banking industry was basically Driving Under the Influence (DUI) and not try to stop them, ticket them and bring them to trial?

Now, finally, the moment I along with millions of others have been waiting for. A COP finally stopping a Wall Streeter and gave them a citation. This action by itself is not as important as is the fact that it could and should lead to many more investigations of fraud and wrong doing.

But instead of Washington talking about sending out the DUI squad, the talk seems to be about retraining and re educating the COPS we already have and maybe even adding some new ones (Financial Reform?).

Excuse me if I seem a little confused here, but don't we already have a police system in place to oversee and regulate our banks? Are not the SEC, FTC, FDIC, The Senate and House Committees on Banking, The Federal Reserve the FBI and the U.S. Attorney General already in place to oversee, regulate and take action ? Had they done their jobs in the first place maybe we would not be in as much trouble as we are in now. Where were they? Who handcuffed them? Inquiring minds want to know.

In the words of President Ronald Reagan, "Here we go again". A crisis for the American people turned into partisan opportunities for the "ruling classes" to clash with one another for authority and power at the expense, once again of the American people. The masses don't matter when the ruling classes clash.

Making a big push to rein in Wall Street, the White House announced yesterday that President Obama will travel into the belly of the beast on Thursday to make a case for financial-reform legislation --from The New York Post - O To Hit Street Runnin.

Yes, Obama is using the SEC charge against Goldman Sachs to push for his agenda which the Republicans are opposing. I've got news for both the Republicans and the Democrats. We don't need more legislation we need enforcement of the legislation and laws we already have. This is not a political battle nor one either side should claim a victory in. This is no more then seeking out truth and justice.

What both parties should be talking about is how many special investigators we should hire to investigate Wall Street and expose all the fraud and participants. In addition, we should have special investigators investigating those in government who "turned a blind eye" and those who "ordered" turning a blind eye regardless of who they are. The implications of cleaning house in this manner could be greater then Watergate or the Iran/Contra Affair. It is time to come clean not to cover up. Fear no longer works against us as we are growing smarter and stronger as a people.

Both parties should be asking why accounting methods used were allowed or "not noticed". use of "off balance sheet" items seems fraudulent. Off balance sheet accounting defies basic accounting principals. The use of "creative" accounting is fraud and those regulators who allow it or turn a blind eye to it are guilty of conspiracy to commit fraud. Having allowed these actions over the years should be looked at as organized crime under RICO.

This is not a political battle with political opportunities. This is a battle for truth and the pursuit of justice. Justice belongs to no political party. I say give up the politics. To both parties I say holster the guns you are pointing at each other and walk together as a unified force of justice protecting those you have sworn to defend...the American people. The winners here need to be the American people not any specific party candidate running for office or party running for control.

No, we don't need Financial Reform and more political battles across the great divide called "the aisle", we just need our current laws to be enforced and the American people served up the JUSTICE they are entitled to.

Mr. President, please show the American people the AIG emails.
In the wake of the disclosures associated with Friday's government fraud accusations against Goldman, Sachs & Co., one of our nation's wealthiest, largest and most politically well-connected banks, it is inexcusable the U.S. government still refuses to release the thousands of emails that exist between AIG and Goldman Sachs.
Unlike the Icelandic volcano, this was no natural disaster. Trillions of dollars have been defrauded from the U.S. taxpayer by a banking scam run by the top 1% of our country.
The mark for this con game has been and continues to be every teacher, cop, firefighter, nurse, conservative saver, small investor, student and retiree. People whose pensions, homes, jobs and monthly retirement stipends have been and continue to be deprived -- so these people can use our government to transfer money from your work to themselves.
We also know that the same people responsible for this failed system are STILL RUNNING IT, leaving obvious conflicts of interest everywhere you turn.
But the American people still have one tremendous ally in not letting them get away with the fraud -- a SEC law that forces these companies to keep records of all of their communications coupled with the most sophisticated, extraordinary ability to use 21st century technology to quickly harvest relevant information out of billions of pieces of data.
And even by barely scratching the surface, this is what we already find:
A Goldman Sachs vice president accused of fraud, writing "more and more leverage in the system, The whole building is about to collapse anytime now..."
An S&P ratings agent saying "Let's hope we are all wealthy and retired by the time this house of cards falters."
Our government is in a position to grant access to a vast pool of information that could answer so many questions about why all our money was taken. But flush with money from these potentially fraudulent institutions, politicians have systematically gutted the very people charged with investigating these crimes.
As a final insult, they provide 23.7 trillion in direct and implied support for these bankers to keep bonusing themselves billions, yet offer a paltry 0.0000003% of that amount to investigate how this incredibly un-American event happened in the first place.
To add insult to injury, we the people now OWN the company at the center of much of the alleged fraud. Currently, you, the U.S. taxpayer, own 80 percent of AIG and there are now 5 people who represent us as trustees at the company.
Please Mr. President,
Show the American people the AIG emails. Many are suffering, our young are without work, our middle class is stuck in houses they can't sell, making it impossible to move to new jobs for the future of our country, and our retirees who, at their most vulnerable, find the custodians of their life savings as either crooks or suckers for the bankster scams.
As our president, you are in charge of AIG. That means that without even a court order, the American people can see every email and it is long past due for you to release those 10 years of AIG emails to the people.
Today, in honor of our ongoing fight against tyranny, let's send a plea to all our elected officials, Treasury Secretary and president to fulfill their custodial obligation to those they represent and show the American people the AIG emails.
And just to prove a point, look into your old email files and find some innocuous email from the past 10 years to attach to the bottom... perhaps if we show them ours, they will show us theirs.

I've called for public outrage against the actions of our banking system, The Federal Reserve - which must be shut down - and our very own Federal Governemnt. Editor's Note: Many of you may have noticed my absence in recent days and I felt I owed you an explanation.

As you know, our 666 sites are all published by volunteers - which like with many organizations - we never have enough of. I readily admit that I spend most of my time on our GoldmanSachs666 site and do my best to keep this one up. While I don't place more importance on our GS666 site then I do on this one, the GS site does get more readership. Now for the reason of my absence.

On Tuesday, March 23rd, I had a heart attack. The good news was that I was in the ER complaining of chest pains and was awaiting admittance to the hospital for "observation". While waiting in the ER on a gurney, I had "the big one". As one of the doctors told me I was fortunate to have been in ER as the reaction time in dealing with me was almost immediate - and it was. I cannot thank the staff of Morton Plant Hospital's ER enough for what they did and how they responded. They truly saved my life.

They stabilized me and quickly got me sent up to the Heart Cath Lab where another surgeon put a stent into the artery causing the immediate problem. This was around midnight.

The "good" bad news is that I am still not out of the woods even though I was released Thursday and in general feel pretty good. During the Cath procedure they found that three other arteries are damaged and baddly clogged and cannot be treated with stents. I will have to undergo open heart bypass surgery to replace those arteries but must wait a month until that can be done.

In the meantime, I am back home with some physical limitations - but they did not limit the use of my fingers or mind - so I can continue my work here at our 666 sites.

Now what is really relevant to all of this is my position within the health care situation that exists and how this new "reform" - or lack o f - is affecting me and how it will affect me as well as millions of other Americans.

Just before my heart attack, I began what was to become a series of posts identifying what is really inside the 2000 plus page "Health Care Reform Bill". Today I ran across this video which in a little over 10 minutes begins to take actual pages and lines from the bill and read them to you. It is - to say the least - shocking.

As I am now very much in need of health care and very much a part of a very broken system, I will be writing on my issues - and that of many thousands of others just like me. To give you a teaser, I am amongst the 40 million of uninsured. I am diabetic, lost my coverage when the company I was with was forced to close its doors which made me ineligible for COBRA. In short I am in need of major, life saving medical treatment.

More on this and the Health Care slam down bill we now have as law.

I said it in my last post, most people including those who voted in favor of this bill and probably most who did not vote for the bill ever read it.

In case any of you are interested, here is a link to Bill HR 3509 It is well in excess of 2000 pages and will take a lot of time to read. I am going to read it a little at a time over the next few days and weeks. As I find things of interest, I will post them here.

In glazing though this document today, I found this section which I find utterly ridiculous with no bearing on providing health care to the American people. It is a TAX on Tanning Salon services. Yes, you read it right - for those of you that go to tanning salons or even use a tanning bed - you will have to pay a 10% tax for doing so. Unlike the provision allowing uninsured people to obtain insurance - which does not go into effect until sometime in 2014 - this provision goes into effect July 1, 2010. Amazing, when it comes to a benefit for the people it takes years to go into effect. When it comes time for the Government to collect tax - it happens almost immediately.

Look out folks, the air that we breath in some areas is considered dangerous and it is very likely that to offset health care costs for those braathing "bad air", we will all sometime in the near future have to pay a tax for breathing.

Here is the section on Tanning:

‘‘CHAPTER 49—COSMETIC SERVICES
‘‘Sec. 5000B. Imposition of tax on indoor tanning services.
6 ‘‘SEC. 5000B. IMPOSITION OF TAX ON INDOOR TANNING
7 SERVICES.
8 ‘‘(a) IN GENERAL.—There is hereby imposed on any
9 indoor tanning service a tax equal to 10 percent of the
10 amount paid for such service (determined without regard
11 to this section), whether paid by insurance or otherwise.
12 ‘‘(b) INDOOR TANNING SERVICE.—For purposes of this
13 section—
14 ‘‘(1) IN GENERAL.—The term ‘indoor tanning
15 service’ means a service employing any electronic
16 product designed to incorporate 1 or more ultraviolet
17 lamps and intended for the irradiation of an indi18
vidual by ultraviolet radiation, with wavelengths in
19 air between 200 and 400 nanometers, to induce skin
20 tanning.
21 ‘‘(2) EXCLUSION OF PHOTOTHERAPY SERV22
ICES.—Such term does not include any phototherapy
23 service performed by a licensed medical professional.
24 ‘‘(c) PAYMENT OF TAX.—

8 remit such tax quarterly to the Secretary at such time
9 and in such manner as provided by the Secretary.
10 ‘‘(3) SECONDARY LIABILITY.—Where any tax im11
posed by subsection (a) is not paid at the time pay12
ments for indoor tanning services are made, then to
13 the extent that such tax is not collected, such tax shall
14 be paid by the person who performs the service.’’.
15 (c) CLERICAL AMENDMENT.—The table of chapter for
16 subtitle D of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986, as amended
17 by this Act, is amended by inserting after the item relating
18 to chapter 48 the following new item:
‘‘CHAPTER 49—COSMETIC SERVICES’’.
19 (d) EFFECTIVE DATE.—The amendments made by this
20 section shall apply to services performed on or after July
21 1, 2010.

Health Care Reform or Health Care Tax?

Where will the money come from?

A question always raised when politicians talk about any program that will directly benefit the people. There always seems to be conversation as to the costs of any new program and questions as to where the money will come from. More tax seems always to be the answer and that raises objections and the debate continues for years (like health care) Yet, there always seems to be a way to come up with money "they" want when "they" want to spend it.

Money for bailouts - easy - just create it!
Money for war - easy - just create and increase the deficit.
Money for no bid contracts - like Halliburton, easy - just give them the contracts and pay them what ever they want.
Money paid in foreign aid - easy - we just pay it out. No discussion, no vote no accounting to the taxpayer. Trillions spent on this alone. We support others before we concern ourselves with our own homeless, hungry and starving children. Criminal!

Money for anything "For The People" - hard - they never know where to get it.

We don't know if all the TARP money will ever be paid back. Some has, some hasn't and some won't be paid back.

The money spent on the wars will be a liability for generations to come. (What ever happened to the oil revenue that was to be used to offset our cost? Where does it all go? hmmmm.)

Money paid to Halliburton and all their subsidiaries for services in Iraq and Afghanistan - I would have to believe - is more then we should be paying or could be paying had those contracts been put out to bid. I am sure that over the years billions of dollars in excessive fees have been paid. We will never know because no one will tell us and Halliburton is NOT a US company so we can't audit their books

This country is guilty of abusive spending and always has been. There is no real oversight or proper financial management of the use of our money. The old $700 hammer syndrome still exists. In case you forgot or not old enough to remember, the U.S. was caught paying that much money for hammers. Hammers was used as a symbol of gross overpayment of many items purchased by the government.

Money for many things that would directly benefit the people could be found if sound fiscal oversight at every level of our government would be exercised. Trim the fat and reallocate it but don't tax tanning in a salon. How soon before there is a tax for sunbathing on public beaches?

It is ironic that when it comes to helping our people there is always months and years of debate questioning "where the money will come from". Our ranks of unemployed, homeless and hungry are growing. Our own children are literally starving and many will die for lack of health care.

We are smarter then this and can certainly do more then what we are doing. We have two parties fighting over their own political agendas and personal gain without once considering the good of the people.

To both Democrats and Republicans, left, right and center - along with all of the other variations - start working for your country not your parties. Listen to the people and act together on their behalf.

It looks like Health Care Reform is on its way = or is it? The House has passed the bill and the Senate will as well and Obama will sign it. That much we all know. But do we all know what is really in those 2000 pages?

Depending on who you talk to or listen to the interpretations are different. I have read and listened and I still don't now what it is all (2000 pages) about. All I seem to know for sure is that if you don't buy health insurance you will get fined by "your" government who is looking out for your best interest. Uh huh?

I think I now something else. If you are currently uninsurable, you will have to wait until sometime in 2014 to purchase your health coverage. I am uninsurable currently - I hope I live long enough to qualify.

There is something else I am not sure I understand. Somehow "they" - those economically savvy politicians are going to trim some large figure in the billions of dollars from Medicare. What I don't know is how. Are they going to actually oversee costs, abuse and spending or are they just going to cut benefits. Knowing our fiscally responsible politicians I have to believe that cutting benefits is how they plan to do it. They would step on too many toes if they were to actually monitor spending and costs. That could cost them all money individually not to mention their campaign contributions. Oh well, soon I will be eligible for medicare but what benefits will I be getting?

This is being called the single most important piece of legislation in recent history. Important to who? Will it really change our health care, make it better, more available and more affordable? Will insurance premiums go down, stay the same or go up? They will probably go up for the insurance industry has no conscience and operates on greed much like our financial institutions. In fact, the insuracne companies are really financial institutions. What do you think they do with all that premium they collect?

Is anyone going to publish "Cliff Notes" on this bill? Probably not - Cliff would have to read the whole thing. Why should he, most of the Congressmen and women and Senators probably have not read it either. I'd be willing to bet that even President Obama has not read it at all. But I am sure that "Cliff" relayed parts of it to him - just the parts he wanted that he could use to sell it to us.

I have a question, maybe someone out there can answer. Has anyone read this entire bill? And who or how many actually participated in writing it? Who wrote what parts?

Isn't Democracy grand when you have your elected representatives vote on something on your behalf whether you want it or not and vote on something they have not read in full.

I call this a Dictatorial Democracy. We are fooled into thinking that we have a say and that "we the people" are in control when in reality, we are dictated to every step of the way. Well, "they" say it is for our own good.

Why not move it to community-based banks that support local businesses, community organizations and civic groups?

The Market Oracle The Next Big Bank Bailout is on the Way Prepare To Get Reamed! Housing is on the rocks and prices are headed lower. That's not the consensus view, but it's a reasonably safe assumption. Master illusionist Ben Bernanke managed to engineer a modest 7-month uptick in sales, but the fairydust will wear off later this month when the Fed stops purchasing mortgage-backed securities and long-term interest rates begin to creep higher.

This is the second installment of "the Fed Corner". There is so much to write about when it comes to the Fed but I will attempt to post some current news and links as well as provide some history and raise many questions.

It is said by some that the 666 blogs sometimes includes conspiracy theories in addition to providing news and information, offering commentary and publishing comments from our readers. I must admit that we do offer up and discuss conspiracy. But what makes a conspiracy "theory" and why is it worth taliking about? A conspiracy comes from situations that are not all that well defined and are shrouded in some sort of secrecy and/or mystery. This, of couorse, leads to some sorting out what little they can learn and putting the pieces together creating a"conspiracy theory". Why is it important to talk about? Because there is often enough real data and facts that begin to raise real questions. The answers to the questions become "theory" until they are proven or not proven. This process can take years and the true answers never learned. There are still conspiracy theories about JFK's assasination even though thousands upon thousands of pages have been written - including the government's own Warren Report. Yet still the quetion of who shot JFK looms large in our world.

To question and challenge is our right and our duty as American citizens. By doing so perhaps we can learn the truth or at the very least exert enough pressure on those who live and hide in the secrecy of mystery. If there is nothing to hide then why hide?

The purpose of this feature - The Fed Corner - is to attempt to sort out what is and what isn't about the Federal Reserve. It is no "theory" that not only is The Fed Secretive but it - itself - is one big secret. Most people do believe that The Fed is a government agency. WRONG! Most people don't know that it is a "PRIVATE" company that was created by then President Woodrow Wilson n 1913, but soon after, said that he did make a mistake and that The Fed would be the downfall of our Democracy and ruination of our nation.

The question is, did he authorize the creation of this "company" or did he authorize allowing this "company" to make and control our money and charge us? Since it is not a Federal Agency then was it actually created by our then government or just authorized? Another question would be who negotiated this on the part of the U.S and WHO were they negotiating with? We know there are owners and the owners are not our Government. So did our leaders then know who they were but kept it secret? To this day it is a secret. Does anyone in power know who the owners are?

There are some real historical answers and data to some of the questions above and we will get into the actual details in future posts. Yet for some there are no real facts or data. For now let us say that there is so little we know about The Fed and The Fed makes every effort to keep us in the dark about them. Their activities and MOST OF ALL, their true OWNERS are still a secret but perhaps we can pry the lid of the can somewhat and peek inside. That's what members of Congress are trying to do currentlly.

As you will see from the links below, many of them have to do with transparency and auditing The Fed - something that has never been done - and something they (The Fed) are fighting hard to avoid. Even documents may be disappearing in the event of an audit.

This company certainly is a mystery in what is supposed to be a FREE and OPEN democratic Republic...For The People, BY THE PEOPLE.

Something is wrong here - you can smell it - and many in Congress are beginning to want to know where the odor is coming from. Let's help them and support them in their effort.

There are many dots. How they are connected can create reality or conspiracy. We will paint the dots as this series continues and you can connect them.

Barack Obama, if you truly want change, expose the Fed. That would be a change I could believe in.

This is the first installment of The Fed Corner here on BarackObama666.com. I have long been a proponent against The Federal Reserve owning our money supply with interest we, as taxpayers, pay annually. It is estimated that we pay approximately $700 billion a year which, of course, escalates every time they print more money for our government uses. They can do so at will with no intervention by the people or our elected officials - including the President.

The Fed is a secretly owned institution whose owners remain a well guarded secret. Even their seal misleads people into thinking it is a Federal Agency and part of our government. As is mentioned in the video below, The Federal Reserve is no more "Federal" then is Federal Express.

The following video (7 min 11 sec) is one I just discovered on a site called The Truth Is Treason.net. I do not know the original publish date but from the content it appears that it was published around the beginning of the Recession. Nevertheless, it contains some very good information we need to know and is relevant. It is a good way to launch this new feature.

For those of you who haven't seen The Still Report on youtube, you should do yourself a favor and check it out (I admit I'm late getting to the game as well). At the 2 minute mark, Bill Still (the Producer of The Money Masters) points out how Goldman has 333 times the amount of derivatives bets than their assets. This may have changed somewhat since the video was produced in November '09 but the fact remains that our banking system is broken and needs major reform.

When we talk about our President, our likes and dislikes, we also must talk about his administration and the government he oversees. Some areas of the government - cabinet level departments such as Treasury, Defense and Justice - are under his direct control as he gets to appoint those in charge.

Other areas of government are not so much under his direct control but under a very persuasive type of control. One such area is our Federal Reserve. Yet, the Federal Reserve is not a government agency - it is in fact a privately owned and secretly owned compnay - our Congress allowed to be established under President Woodrow Wilson. Today, it is said, the Federal Reserve and its Chairman have more power in Washington then does The President no matter who that may be.

The Fed can print our money - Federal Reserve Notes - at will, raise or lower and cause to be raised or lowered consumer interest rates and bail out corporations with newly printed money future generations will pay interest on with no hope of ever reducing the principle.

With so much wrong in our country today - two wars, a broken and shattered economy, a diminishing middle class, high unemployment, increasing food stamp participants and an ever increasing homeless population - it is important that we begin to take a serious look at how The Fed may be involved.

The questions are raised as to who "they" are, what they do, how they do it and never have to account to the American people.

This type of entity does not belong in a Democracy "of the people, by the people, for the people".. Let us not forget that this was the principal our founding fathers created. Smart men in a primitive time compared to today. No computers, little science, no instant media that can transmit information in milliseconds. Yet they were able to conceive of "a more perfect union".

This new feature, "The Fed Corner" will publish links to information and hopefully insight to The Federal Reserve. Commentary will be offered as will be research not generally known by the publlic. Much will be controversial yet controversy is what surrounds this whole concept and innter workings of The Fed.

Our purpose is to create dialogue, awareness and. discovery in an effort to learn how The Fed interweaves with our elected (/) government as it rules our financial industry. We may also find discovery on how it possibly rules us all.

Goldman Sachs Lending To Aircraft Leasing Company Owned by AIG

I just could not resist writing this post. The headline in Bloomberg.com reads: "AIG Plane Unit Seeks $750 Million Loan Through BofA, Goldman. Ok, so BofA and GS are lending big money to a big company. What's wrong with that? Here is what's wrong with that. This loan is to taxpayer overly bailed out AIG. Now, I thought we bailed out AIG so GS could get the back door payment (just kidding, I know that was not the reason) and most of all to keep the world's economy from crashing (most of it did anyway).

So, what is AIG doing in the plane business and did any of our bailout money go to save a plane leasing company? You bet it did.

ILFC (the AIG unit-explanation added), one of the biggest customers for Boeing Co. and Airbus SAS, is seeking to borrow outside of AIG for the first time since losing access to its traditional sources after the insurer’s rescue in September 2008. New York-based AIG used U.S. bailout funds to prop up ILFC with a $1.7 billion credit line in March and $2 billion in October. (emphasis added but cannot be emphasized enough!)
Outraged? You bet I am!

Our bailout money bailed out a non financial industry and they are not even in the automobile business. Now, Goldman and BofA are going to use more of our bailout money to loan this AIG owned company some more.

How many more of these "insider", "backdoor" deals are going on? How much more of our money are these Too Big To Fail Fat Cats going to use to keep themselves and their buddies and affililiates in the "green". What happened to let em fail just like the thousands upon thousands of small business in this country that were allowed to fail? Small business, that produces the most jobs, the most taxes and maintains the disappearing middle class?

Do I care if an airplane leasing company goes out of business? No I don't. Do I care if Boeing loses its biggest customer? Not really. Do I care if Airbus SAS - not even an American company fails? Absolutely NOT! I am outraged even more just when the rage was beginning to subside just a little.
“We anticipate selling some ILFC assets in the future,” Robert Benmosche, AIG’s chief executive officer, said in a statement this month when the company announced the departure of Steven Udvar-Hazy as leader of the Los Angeles-based plane unit. “We continue to review other options, including accessing the capital markets through secured debt financing.”
Wait a minute. You have assets and you are considering selling them in the future? Isn't that what should have been done before your owner - AIG - gave you our bailout money? Isn't that what you should be doing now? Isn't that what people are doing everyday all over the country? And isn't that the ONLY alternative most small business has to raise capital? Wake Up America!

Remember the old saying where there is smoke there is fire. Well, the smoke is pretty thick around Goldman Sachs, Bank of America and AIG but there is no fire because the likes of Paulson, Geithner, Bernanke and the Administration - past and present - keep putting it out at our expense. We starve and they thrive with our money. What a smoke screen they have put up thinking we Americans are that stupid. Guess again, we are not and we are coming out of the ether and we will blow right through their smoke.

But there is more insult to this travesty of justice against the American people.
Mark Herr, a spokesman for AIG, Kerrie McHugh, a Bank of America spokeswoman, and Michael DuVally, a Goldman Sachs spokesman, declined to comment.
Hmmmm? (The onlly literary word for the above comment) But read on, there is more.
Cut to Junk
ILFC is seeking loans less than a week after being cut to junk status by Fitch Ratings on concern about whether AIG would continue to provide support. The downgrade affected about $18 billion of debt, Fitch said in a Feb. 18 statement. (emphasis once again added)
AIG's, International Lease Finance Corporation (ILFC) company is JUNK to begin with. Didn't a man by the name of Milkin go to prison for selling "junk" bonds? I guess Mr. Milkin played the game a little to early - before it became fashionable and lawful to peddle junk. At least I can say one thing about Mr. Milkin I cannot say about the rest of the band of crooks, he was up front in telling people what he was selling. He called them JUNK BONDS not things like credit default swaps, derivatives, AAA rated MBS's and CDO's - all fancy names for junk to knowingly mislead investors and other governments around the world.

I believe the world's financial markets would be better off without AIG, Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan and all the rest of this band of thieves. We should have let them fail and used the trillions of dollars on our own citizens. Every trillion dollar would have given about $300 to every person in this country and that is money they would have put back into the economy. Poof, no Recession, real money flowing to real people circulating in our economy. How many trillions of dollars will we have given away to the AIG's of this country? One, two, three or more? Do the math. What I just suggested is "real" trickle down economics.

I don't know the author of this as it came to me in an email. Since we are not using it for any moneytary gain, I feel comfortable in using it.

BarackObama's "Change We Can Believe In" - Oh yeh?

-A picture is worth a thousand words. In the video below the picture is worth over 31 million Americans suffering from unemployment. Officially the unemployment fugres stand at 9.7 percent but as we all know and most media reports the true figure is at 17 percent when taking under employment into account. Real figures need to be put out by this Administration which would be a change from previous Administrations. But then again, that would be "change we can believe in".

Below this video will be another change we can believe in - more homeless Americans as reported by MSNBC.

A reader left a recent comment which struck a cord with me. While all the comments to the last post were good this particular one ended with a comment concerning political power in our country. The comment was left on the post, Right ON - MoveOn.org: Barack Obama Needs to Respond. Just click this link to read the post and all the comments.

I also began to leave a reply to this particular comment but as I was doing so, it became more evident to me that I should elaborate in an entire post. So here is my comment as posted.

This thread and all the comments left by all the "Anonymous" readers have all been very relevant and good.

However, I must disagree with the last statement in the last comment which I have quoted above.

While those at the bottom and the middle are hardest hit and going through a Depression, they ARE NOT powerless. That belief is what allows those at the top - "the elite" to continue to rape, pillage and plunder. Our voting power is stronger then their money and political influence.

If all those that are affected and sick and tired of the devastation to our freedom and our economic freedom STAND TOGETHER, WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE.

Now, my continuation:

Yes, we seem to forget - or worse yet - are distracted into believing that we are powerless. The steamroller decisions and legislation that has been going on since the beginning of this crisis in March of 2007 - yes I did say 2007 - and the quick approvals by our elected officials have lulled the people of this country to believe there is nothing they can do. The Depression being experienced by the poor and the Recession - as the reader said - of the middle class causes a distraction so great - it is called survival - that our politicians can do what ever they want. Before we can raise our heads from our hands covering our pain and tears, another action is approved by our "leaders" that further enriches the elite class and lowers the abilities of all the rest.

But you see, if we buy into this type of action by "them" then perhaps we should accept the responsibilities and consequences of our own actions or better said, our own inaction.

These distractions -higher food costs, higher gas costs, higher unemployment, higher foreclosures, are a planned - yes, I did say planned - event. How else can one take control of a population unless they keep that population distracted by survival? This might seem like a very bold statement to make but just stop and look at where we are.

The elite upper class - as the comment indicated - is affected very little or not at all. In fact, they seem to be flourishing. With a nation of over 300 million people does it not seem strange that la relative few can succeed while the masses fail?

The bottom line is that we are allowing them to destroy us. Our lack of involvement daily is the indicator of this. Sure, there are blogs - like this one - that call for change. There are those blogs and organizations that mobilize groups of people to take action and there are groups that are organized that don't seem to accomplish much. Why? Because we are splintered and divided while our enemies are united.

When the comment said we are powerless the author of that statement truly believes it therefore there must exist a feeling of despair and inability to accomplish change therefore "there is nothing we can do". How wrong this feeling is and how this belief plays right into the hands of those "elite". But as long as the Stars and Stripes still flies over our Capitol and we sing our National Anthem we must believe that our Constitution is valid still and the rights we are afforeded under our Constitution still exist.

We have the power of vote. We can elect - by free and open vote - those we want and once we do we can demand of them to do what is necessary to protect and serve "the people" not the corporations. Corporate "elite" control is only possible if we allow it. No matter how much they spend on politicians, campaigns and lobbyists, we must rise above all of this, seek our own information and vote for not who ran the most advertisements but for those we have researched, talked to and believe will work for us.

We still have the power, we are just not using it. If we unify and stand tall together we can make a difference. Don't like what Congress is doing? Call your Congressmen/women and your Senators. Write them or email them everyday if need be and let them know who you are and who they work for. I know if I were a politician and got millions of emails, phone calls and letters, I would have to pay attention knowing that my "elite" contributors and high paid lobbyists can no longer influence my decisions and more important, my future. You see political office is a profession and no longer a patriotic duty. There are no longer any true Statesmen/women just Professional Politicians who will do anything - key word anything - to keep their high paying jobs with the best benefits (retirement and medical) in the free world.

Seems easier said then done, doesn't it? Fear seems to be a very relevant element that keeps many of us from standing up and being counted. That is why you see so many "Annonymous" commenters on this and many other sites. People are afraid and afraid of retribution by our government. A very real feeling and prpobably a very valid one. All the more reason to unify, speak up and out and stand tall together.

MoveOn.org is letting President Obama know that it does begrudge the multimillion-dollar bonuses being paid to Goldman Sachs CEO Lloyd Blankfein and and JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon, both of whose banks were bailed out by the American taxpayer.

The liberal advocacy group urged its members Thursday to call the White House to let the president know that they object to his cozy relationship with Wall Street bankers ("I know both those guys; they are very savvy businessmen," Obama said in the interview that raised eyebrows when it was released Thursday. "I, like most of the American people, don't begrudge people success or wealth. That is part of the free- market system.")

Our politicians seem to be bought and paid for. Even our President - whoever it may be or what ever party they belong to - are bought and paid for. I don't meant they are taking bribes or money (some politicians may), what I mean is there seems to be a force, a power, greater then the Presidency of the United States.

It may be our corporate giants like Goldman Sachs (see our sister blog www.GoldmanSachs666.com) who seem to have enough power and influence to crash the economies of nations not to mention have the ability to hide financial transactions and data like they appear to have done in Greece.

I have always been a science fiction fan and have found much of science fiction to have become reality like the flip phone communicator Captain Kirk used in Star Trek. I have a flip communicator myself now. I also remember sci fil movies about the future where large corporations rule nations and sometimes even the world. Corporations that had so much power that they could dictate the politics and laws. Anyone remember those movies?

Those movies could be coming true as did Star Trek's communcator devices. I can see it now. Large GS signs everywhere. GS logo's on security vehicles (police forces) on para military uniforms and vehicles, our "government offices, schools and more. Is it possible that companies like GS, JP Morgan, Bank of America are working in unison to accomplish a take over? Are they part of or all of "The New World Order"? I am beginning to wonder and Obama's remarks - seemingly a flip flop on his earlier remarks call these high paid exec's "fat cat bankers". You got to wonder why the "flip flop"? Who is pulling his strings?

Who pulled George W. Bush's strings? Well, perhaps a little easier to answer there. Dick Cheney, former CEO of corporate giant - and non bid winner of most private contracts in Iraq and Afghanistan - Halliburton, was certainly a puppeteer. Hank Paulson, former CEO of Goldman Sachs, as Secretary of the Treasury was certainly a puppeteer and now Timothy Geithner, former President of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York - a puppeteer then and now.

I have always believed that we have a "Shadow Government" running everything including our lives from behind the scenes. In the past 2 years I have found that many others not only have the same opinion but notable people have been attempting to expose them.

There is definitely a shake up occurring in our system of government and Obama has made it more clear to me then ever before. From a different political party, from a limited exposure to inside the Beltway and from campaign speaches of "Change we can believe in" he turns out to be the same as all the others before him. Nothing has changed except that the people have less and the rich - the super rich - have that much more.

Dear MoveOn member,

In an interview this week, President Obama was asked about Goldman Sachs' CEO giving himself a $9 million bonus. He called the CEO, Lloyd Blankfein, a "savvy" businessman and said the American people don't begrudge him his wealth.1
There's one big problem: Every cent of bonus money Goldman Sachs has paid out in the last year belongs to taxpayers.2 That's because of huge taxpayer supports--including $12.9 billion of bailout money funneled directly to Goldman through AIG--none of which they have any intention of paying back.

The fact is, the American people do begrudge wealth when it's taken directly out of their pockets. And "savvy" doesn't accurately describe a businessman who brought the world economy to the edge of collapse.

Can you call the White House right now and let the president know that you're outraged that big banks have returned to business as usual while the rest of the country suffers? Tell him that appearing close to Wall Street is no way to gain voters' trust that he's on their side.

In the past, the president has used language that's much more in touch with how most Americans see Wall Street's outsized bonuses, calling them "obscene" and "shameful."4 And he supported a 90% tax on last year's AIG bonuses.5 That's why this latest interview, where he compared the bankers who destroyed our economy to highly-paid baseball players, was so discouraging.

New York Times columnist Paul Krugman made clear why the president's analogy makes no sense, and why it's so troubling:

To my knowledge, irresponsible behavior by baseball players hasn't brought the world economy to the brink of collapse and cost millions of innocent Americans their jobs and/or houses.

And more specifically, not only has the financial industry has been bailed out with taxpayer commitments; it continues to rely on a taxpayer backstop for its stability.6
[The president] said some things about making compensation better tied to results--but it was framed purely in terms of stockholder interests, with no mention, again, of the damage bankers have done and the public support they still require.7
Can you call the White House right now to let the president know how Wall Street's bonuses are seen on Main Street? Tell him that you want him to stand up to bankers who think they're entitled to billions of taxpayer dollars with no accountability.

Barack Obama Would Never Listen to Ron Paul...But We Should

This small clip just a little over 4 minutes says quite a bit. Like Ron Paul or not, I think he sees or maybe knows things he is trying to tell us. He doesn't sound like a Republican, certainly not like a Democrat and most of all not like any other major politician. Some sluff him off, think he is crazy or out there somewhere. But maybe, just maybe, he is trying to tell us something. One thing for sure, he has the guts to stand up and not follow the party line or the business as usual political rhetoric..

Listen to what he has to say. I hear some things worth paying attention to.

Later, when it became clear information would be disclosed, New York Fed legal group staffer James Bergin e-mailed colleagues saying: “I have to think this train is probably going to leave the station soon and we need to focus our efforts on explaining the story as best we can. There were too many people involved in the deals -- too many counterparties, too many lawyers and advisors, too many people from AIG -- to keep a determined Congress from the information.”

Think of the enormity of that statement. A staffer at a body with little public accountability and that exists to serve bankers is lamenting the inability to keep Congress in the dark. (emphasis added)

More evidence of conspiracy and the existence of what I have long maintained is a Shadow Government (SG). I continue to maintain that "it matters not" who is in the White House as the SG is always in control. That could explain why so many campaign promises are never kept regardless of the party who makes them.

This entire economic crisis is a conspiracy led by our banks who in turn are led by our(?) Federal Reserve.

Now, if President Obama is truly "the outsider" that can come in and reform and right the wrongs of our government and truly create "change we can believe in" he would excessive the power we have given him and begin to make some changes - starting with many of the people he has surrounded himself with - the "old guard". Purge the government of those folds that have come from our true enemy - the banks - replacing them with true patriots. Those that are willing to serve to actually "serve" the public for a better America not to "use" the public for a better bank account.

Mr. President:

You were elected by the people to serve the people not the selfish and destructive elements on Wall Street. The people live on Main Street where over 18 million homes sit vacant due to foreclosures. Foreclosures not because of abuse or loan misuse but by virtue of unemployment and underemployment caused by Wall Street.

Yes, the blame is evident, the admissions to the cause of Main Street's problems verbalized by many, including yourself.

I believe you have let the American people down while propping up the "fat cat" banksters who continue to destroy the American way of life.

Your stimulus package is too late and too little to make any short term impact on those of us out here on the street. The hungry and homeless - hidden from the general public and never reported on by the media - need help now. The many who will soon join those ranks need your help now. The country needs your help now.

If anyone is "too big to fail" we, the people - who are this country - and who vote you all into office to work for us - are too big to fail. If we all go broke and all become homeless would this country exist with just the "elite" you helped prosper?

We are living, breathing human beings not created entities made of paper who do not need housing or food to exist. You were quick to act on the disaster in Haiti - a much needed action by you and our country. It proves to me that when money is needed for an effort, it appears almost overnight except for those of us who live here.

Wall Street created our disaster which affects many more then is affected in Haiti. You should declare the U.S. a disaster area (excluding Wall Street) and begin to pour aid in the way of food for the hungry, shelter for the homeless and money with which to rebuild our own lives.

Pour aid into small business, let them create goods and services and jobs. Create a foreclosure relief fund and most of all feed our hungry children.

Break down the dynasties that exist in our country, be they political or corporate. Truly return the government to the people with action not rhetoric. "Change We Can Believe In" is change we can see and experience.

Expose, if you dare or care, the underbelly of this government that rules us. The corporate conspirators that conspire and aspire to control it all. Open up the Federal Reserve to audit and disclosure so that we know who the owners are and what they are doing with the money they create and make from us in the form of interest which much of our tax dollars go to. Give the power of our money back to us and into the hands of a Treasury Department run not by "one of those".

Free this country from the slavery we - on Main Street - are all victim to. Abolish the "ruling" class and re establish the middle class. In a country as great and mighty as ours, there should be no poor (homeless and hungry).

There will always be an upper class - the rich - but let them become rich through the fruits of their labor, imagination and creativity not by robbing the rest of us. I don't advocate robbing from the rich to give to the poor, but curtail and punish those in the "elite" class so they can no longer rape, pillage and plunder the population at large and at will.

Bring back the usury laws so that the "too big to fail" banksters can no longer charge annual rates of interest of over 30%. Eighteen percent worked so very well for so many years and even then most rates were not in the double digit category. The banks were solvent and profitable then. Wall Street was working well and profiting as well.

Look around you at some of the people you have surrounded yourself with. Some don't have either your best interest in mind nor the interest of the American people. There are many people well qualified to surround yourself with that have no ties to the old establishment. Mr. President, close the revolving door.

Mr. President, there are things you can do now. You have the power and the power of executive order. Use your power for the good of the people.

If political futures are not important - and they are not - then use your next three guaranteed years too truly make the "Change" we can believe in. It might even get you four more years if you do.

Listen to the people. They are speaking very loudly. I am sure you can hear them. Some voices are below.

Barack Obama's State of the Union Speech - Bland or Bold?

By now the many analysts have given their opinions as to the President's address to the Congress and the Nation. The opinions are - as expected - mixed depending on the analysts political leanings. Some said it was good, some said it was not foreceful enough, some said it was like a campaign speech and others simply thought it was hot air.

I think it was all of the above - bland and bold.

I did like several comments he did make. The most important one I heard was his open challenge of the U.S. Supreme Court's ruling on campaign financing and advertising - very bold This was a step outside of the "comfort" zone of political corectness. I give him credit for this one as the ruling is wrong, has nothing to do with the preservation of "our" First Amendment rights and does very much open control of elected officials to corporations both foreign and domestic.

Second was his commnet on creating an Executive Order to overrule Congress not passing a bill authored by a Democrat and a Republican - bold. I have not studied the bill so I cannot comment on its value but I do applaud the President on taking a politically dangerous stand. My applause is for his and bold one not necessarily his correctness.

Third, I felt his comment on elected officials not working for re election or to "win" points in polls but in doing the job for the people was a good and bold one. After all, is that not why we put them there? But I am sure it will have very little effect.

This tied in with his comments of the elimination of Lobbyists and another positive and very bold point in the speech. Lobbying to me is a form of bribery - no it is bribery. Combining lobbying with the Supreme Court's recent ruling delivers no change and offers no hope for the people. Again, a good statement but with no teeth - bold then bland. A Democracy where the elected officials are bought and paid for is not a Democracy.

As to the rest of his 70 minute speech, it was bland. We all know we need ;jobs, education and health care - no one would deny that - but how do we accomplish that? The Stimulous package is a small, very small beginning and may not be enough. Adding $30 Billion of the repaid TARP funds is a pittance compared to the trillions we put into "too big to fail" companies - another bold and bland statement. I have always maintained that those trillions should have been put directly on Main Street then we would have seen a recovery. As to education, he indicated the problems and some very broad solutions but no definitive plan of action - bland. As to health care, or as he now referred to it, "health insurance reform", nothing said other then the "honorable" mention - very bland.

What we need form our President is boldness. Boldness to fight the establishment and those like the bankers who would hijack it. What we need is a very bold reassurance from our President that he will address the issues of the people not cater to the buracracy and the establishment. We need a President that is a true statesman and proponent of the people. We need more strength and conviction not just campaign speeches.

I don't believe his speech will have an impact any time soon, if at all. The abuses of the banking system will hinder us for years to come and the stimulous or recovery package will only have some trickle effects and take years to show results.

We seem to be able to pump money with no intent for payback in many other areas that truly are not in the public interest. Maybe if we pump some of this money directly into education, health care and small business we could recover much sooner then later with a more lasting long term effect.

We need to stabilize the real estate markets with programs - that are not window dressing - to stem the tide of foreclosures. Restore the American Dream.

In addition, we will see little change as long as Congressional dynasties exist. One major step forward - to fix our broken system - would be to limit terms on all elected officials, from the President to both Houses of Congress and even to the Supreme Court, to a one time, six year term. Unless we can change these people with some predetermined frequency we can never have true change we so desperately need in our country - regardless of who lives in our White House.

Being optimistic, I believe he can begin to make a difference if he takes the bull by the horns, does not make decisions that are politically correct just to attempt to win election to a second term, but to make decisions to fix our real problems. I do believe he knows and understands what they are. He needs to employ the same advice he verbalized to Congress He has three more years to do so and we have him for our President for at least that much more time. In the words of Captain Picard of StarTrek TNG, "make it so!"

Well, I'm "mad as hel"l and have been for quite some time now. The mixed signals coming from the White House weren't mixed at all they were just signals sent to the populous letting us know there will be "no change". But as I said in an earlier post, the election of Brown to the Senate was certainlyl a wake up call. Now new signals are being sent attempting to renew the "movement" talked about during Obama's campaign.

But through it all, the damage has already been done. This "change" of direction has already cost "the people" more then many of us will ever be able to recover in our lifetimes or even the lifetimes of our children.

This political game dominated by mostly too big to fail corporate players has been rigged and our President, the referee made some terrible calls. The replay reviews were removed from the rules and the calls made on the field remained.

It is the end of the first quarter (year one for Obama), a time out call was made by the people of Massachusettes and the coaches called a meeting to change their game plan.

Sounds like a game of football doesn't it? But in football the spectators (us) get our money's worth of entertainment regardless of which team wins or loses. No spectator gets hurt. The game of national politics hurts the spectators and we not only don't get our money's worth, we actually have to pay more to exit the stadium.

In the last four quarter game that went into four overtimes (the Bush II years) no player was injured only spectators - the whole stadium of spectators. The penalties were not on the field they were in the seats. Two wars, unemployment, foreclosures and total loss of yardage -when wealth was eradicated from the spectators and given to the "owners" of the two teams on the field.

During the playoffs (the campaign) it looked like we would have two new teams playing but it turned out to be just a rematch of the previous game. Still two wars, higher unemployemt, more foreclosures then ever before and wealth still seeping out from the spectators.

Now one team wants to change their game plan but they are playing in front of a badly hurt audience. You see, you can replace a player but you cannot replace the spectators.

We are all on the spectator injured reserve list. The question now is will we be able to cover enought and quick enough to return to the stadium? I sadly don't think so. There will be several games played before our injuries are healed but only if and when we get proper medical attention.

The "owners" (the too big to fail) should know that without spectators (a populous) there is no more revenue, but then again, they have their farm teams all over the world with sill some unscathed spectators out there.

It is time to end the game, change the rules, get new players and new referees. We paid our admission to be a spectator and expect to have a good , honest and fair game.

Barack Obama Disagrees With Supreme Court Ruling - Update 1

On January 21, 2010, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that corporations are entitled to spend unlimited funds in our elections. The First Amendment was never intended to protect corporations.
This cannot stand. Join our campaign to protest this decision . (FreeSpeechforPeople.org) Protect our democracy! Free speech is for people — not corporations.

No blog attempting to right the wrongs of this nation would be complete without writing on the recent Supreme Court ruling allowing corporations and unions unlimited spending to run their own campaign ads for or against candidates running for office. This 5 to 4 decision by the Justice's will drastically change the outcomes of any election and democracy as we know it.

Even President Obama has openly criticized (click here to hear Obama's statement) this decision which gives corporations the ability to control elections. This is just one more nail in the coffin for democracy.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Corporations can spend freely to support or oppose candidates for president and Congress, the Supreme Court ruled on Thursday, a landmark decision denounced by President Barack Obama for giving special interests more power.
"The Supreme Court has given a green light to a new stampede of special interest money in our politics," Obama said after the 5-4 ruling that divided the nation's high court along conservative and liberal lines.

"It is a major victory for big oil, Wall Street banks, health insurance companies and the other powerful interests that marshal their power every day in Washington to drown out the voices of everyday Americans," Obama said.

The justification by the 5 Juctice's that ruled in favor was the preservation of our First Amendment rights, the free speech amendment. Their argument is that corporations - including unions - are "legal" people, which they are, and therefore they have the right to free speech by the use of advertising. However, this issue is more an issue of campaign spending then it is one of Constitutional rights.

The ruling, a defeat for Obama and supporters of campaign finance limits, is expected to unleash a flood of money to be spent in this year's congressional election and the 2012 presidential contest.

The 2002 campaign finance law at issue was named after Senator John McCain, the unsuccessful Republican presidential nominee in 2008, and Democratic Senator Russell Feingold.

Voicing their dissent, the Justice's that voted against the ruling had this to say:

The four liberal dissenters said allowing corporate money to flood the political marketplace will corrupt democracy.(emphasis added)

RULING COULD UNDERMINE INTEGRITY-DISSENT

In his sharply worded dissent, Justice John Paul Stevens wrote, "The court's ruling threatens to undermine the integrity of elected institutions across the nation."

It is well known that political campaing victories are very closely related to the size of a candidat's "war chest" - the amount of money they have to spend on campaign ads. One does not need to be a political pundit to understand the ramificaitons of this ruling. The corporations will now control who gets elected and who does not. And, if you think there has been negative, dirty campaigning in the past just wait and see what happens now.

Republican Party Chairman Michael Steele praised the ruling and said, "Free speech strengths our democracy."

But "free speech" for whom Chairman Steele? The people can't compete fairly in the media nor can the candidates who do not have the support of those corporations with billions to spend to gain the favor they require to earn even more billions. This is not democracy, this is corporate dictatorship some would call Facsist.

Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell, long an opponent of the law, said, "For too long, some in this country have been deprived of full participation in the political process."

The only ones I see that have been deprived "full participation in the political process" are the people.

But the law's supporters said the ruling will allow corporations to spend unlimited sums to influence elections.

I have always been under the opinion that "influencing" the outcome of politcal campaigns was illegal. No one should have the right to "influence" an election. Influence equals control and control equals the deterioration of democracy.

We are already too controlled and democratized. Freedoms and privacy eroding rapidly if not already eroded completely. Corporate control of our economy a reality already and with that power they - the corporations - "rule" our democracy. There are no "rulers" in a true democracy especially when "they" claim to be doing "God's work".

One small step forward for corporate America, one giant leap backwards for the people's democracy. Houston, we have a problem!

Barack Obama: The Change You Promised Is Happening

"Change we can believe in", Obama's campaign slogan is beginning to come true, but with no thanks to him.

Change is happening because of the people - not the politics as usual - Obama's administration is operating under. The recent election of Brown to the Senate in Massachusetts is a signal and one I am sure the Democrats are looking at very seriously.

Here is another indication of change which I believe is a result of the people which has instilled some fear into the halls of Congress.
Opposition Grows Against Second Term for Bernanke by Sewell Chan as published in the New York Times

The confirmation of Ben S. Bernanke to a second four-year term as chairman of the Federal Reserve ran into further trouble on Friday as two more Democratic senators said they would vote against him.

Even Harry Reid is not sure how he will vote. That's right, I said Harry Reid. Another Democrat - Senator Barbara Boxer of California - who is up for re election this year - also is against reconfirming Bernanke. She says;

she had “a lot of respect” for him and praised him for preventing the economic crisis from getting even worse. “However, it is time for a change,” she said. “It is time for Main Street to have a champion at the Fed.”“Our next Federal Reserve chairman must represent a clean break from the failed policies of the past,” (emphasis added)

Democrats and Republicans alike (and they are so much alike) are making "change" a reality. Why? Because they are in fear of not being re elected to the best job with the best benefits this country has to offer. They are suddenly in fear of the public and fear on their part is good. As Thomas Jefferson said, "When the people fear the government there is tyranny; when the government fears the people there is liberty".

...opposition to Mr. Bernanke has emerged from both the left and the right, as anger has mounted over the Fed’s extraordinary interventions in the market in 2008 — which have been lumped together with the huge bailouts of big financial institutions — and over the perceived regulatory failings of the Fed in the years preceding the crisis.

Change, Mr. President, is happening but as I said earlier, no thanks to you. It is apparent that somehow you, who ran as an outsider, became an insider very quickly. I guess that when you took residency in "our" White House that someone gave you the rules of the road. But whoever that someone may be, the will of the people will eventually succeed. We have let this cycle run for far too long, we are angry and we are beginning to do something about it.

This economic crisis is probably just what the people needed as their wake up call. We have watched our freedoms erode steadily for many years but we are awake, make no mistake about that.

The undercurrent of a bloodless revolt is certainly out there. Even with the Supreme Courts ruling the other day allowing corporations to advertise - with unlimited or regulated amounts of money - the people will still prevail. Corporatins and politicians alike - BEWARE.

This political game dominated by mostly too big to fail corporate players has been rigged and our President, the referee made some terrible calls. The replay reviews were removed from the rules and the calls made on the field remained.

It is the end of the first quarter (year one for Obama), a time out call was made by the people of Massachusettes and the coaches called a meeting to change their game plan.
