Notes from Larry:

I wish to thank those of you who come to this site even though I have been absent for quite some time. This site has a very important purpose. There is much to say and much to hear from all of you.

For those of you who might be wondering about m;y health, I am happy to report that I have fully recovered and am healthier and stronger then I have been in over 20 years. My health was not my reason for my absence. I just needed some time away and appreciate your understanding. I will, however, be back right after the New Year.

Barack Obama Comedy Corner

Everyone needs a good laugh or at least a smile once in a while.  Jokes about politicians and Presidents have long been a stable for comediennes all.  Let's end the week with a laugh here to.

I don't know the author of this as it came to me in an email.  Since we are not using it for any moneytary gain, I feel comfortable in using it.

Here goes:

A Japanese doctor said, 'Medicine in my country is so advanced that we took the kidney out of one man, put it in another, and have him looking for work in six weeks.

A German doctor said, 'That's nothing, we can take a lung out of one person, put it in another, and have him looking for work in four weeks.

A British doctor said, 'In my country, medicine is so advanced that we can take half of a heart out of one person, put it in another, and have them both looking for work in two weeks.'

A  Chicago doctor, not to be outdone said, 'You guys are way behind. We took a man with no brains out of Chicago , put him in the White House, and now half the country is looking for work.'
Have a great weekend and keep sending your comments and links.  "Together We Can Make A Difference"

    On the Bailout Hustle

That’s one way we could have proceeded. But whatever we didn’t do, we can be sure that what we did do was exactly wrong. Barry pointed out the classic pronunciation of Victorian economist/journalist Walter Bagehot, who said that in a crisis, a Central Bank should lend freely to solvent institutions against good collateral, at penalty rates. We did exactly the opposite: we lent to insolvent institutions, against shit collateral, at zero percent interest. We told these guys to drink themselves sober. Total crap thinking and totally typical.

  2. Not funny...

Study: Mods just Delay Foreclosures, 6.1 Million to Lose Homes
Wayne: Of the 7.7 million delinquent homeowners, we actually think that only about 1.6 million will be able avoid losing their homes, and that the remaining 6.1 million will lose their homes. We say that there is 5 million units of shadow inventory because we estimate that about 1.1 million delinquent homeowners already have their homes listed for sale, and we would not classify those homes as “shadow.”

  3. Here is something to think about: Even after the TARP has been fully paid back, the US Government is STILL bailing out TBTF banks more than we are giving bailouts to US families with hungry kids, and more than all of our overseas aid . . .

  4. In Dec 2009 I was approved for a Loan Modification. I was to pay a down-payment and keep up my monthly payments of $531.04. I have kept up my end of the deal. Yesterday I received my monthly statement and it said my next payment was $6,431.96 due in 15 days.

I called Ocwen and the rep said the statement is correct. If I do not pay the $6,431.96 by the due date, they are taking my home. In the modification agreement, it states that "upon modification, your note will become current and will not be in default." However, the lady on the phone says I didn't have an agreement and I am in foreclosure. But I have the agreement in writing!

I asked to speak to a supervisor and got disconnected. So I called again. As soon as I asked to speak to a supervisor, I got cut off. This has happened every single time I've called in the past several years.

Bill Moyers Journal takes a hard look at how campaign cash in judicial races may sway America's courts.

The power of money drives cynicism into the heart of all levels of government.
